Step 1 (chronic cruelty, trauma bonding): Fox News personalities induce irrational fear (e.g. phobia) and anxiety in vulnerable victims by contriving, exaggerating or fabricating a reason to feel fearful and anxious. Additionally, Fox personalities work to evoke feelings of confusion, anger, rage, disgust, and persecution in their viewers. The key is to ensure Fox viewers feel distressed by what they are told.
Step 2: Victims feel helpless to relieve their fear, anxiety and/or agitation, the same feelings first experienced in childhood.
Step 3: The overwhelming feelings of fear, anxiety and helplessness cause the victims’ thinking process to become impaired (flight, fight or freeze response) and/or age regressed, inhibiting any critical thinking skills they may have. The victims become childlike in their thinking, non-judgmental, suggestible, and more receptive to whatever Fox News personalities may say.
Step 4: The helpless victims keep watching Fox News personalities to relieve their induced emotional distress.
Step 5: Fox News personalities convey with certainty and conviction a deceptive message that the fearful and anxious victims are now ready to believe, desperate just to feel relief. The message is offered to solve the exaggerated or made-up problem while serving the Fox News covert agenda. The oversimplified, black and white presentation of news events and reality primes the feeling of comfort in viewers.
Step 6 (Information Control, Isolation, Playing the Savior): Fox News personalities reinforce the notion of how fortunate the victims are that Fox News was there to discover the problem and provide a solution, a problem that only Fox News was able to identify. Fox News personalities may discourage viewers from trusting competing sources of information to further isolate them from reality. Victims are compelled to feel that it would not be safe to step away from Fox News.
