Suddenly remembered just how fucking great the Jazz Jackrabbit (1994) soundtrack is The first platform game I was truly terrible at (it's not my skilled genre) but I didn't care because it was just so damn cool So many kids who grew up this game ended up furries, and for good reason 🤘🐰
It's my 8 year HRTversary! ⚧️🎉 Here's to the magic little pills that did more to keep me alive than any form of conventional therapy or anti-depressant Access to trans healthcare keeps people like me alive, it gives us control over our bodies & minds, and should be protected at all costs
MeowGun is like if the Matrix was a video game... I know game developers who use subtext, those devs are cowards. This is how you make a game into a trans allegory ⚧️ Every level just makes me want to applaud @susadebastet.bsky.social even louder😂
The Dopefish Lives!!! This thing has been following me around since my childhood and the days of Commander Keen, of course I'd be reunited in MeowGun 🐟 Starting to feel like this game was made just to toy with my emotions (positively) Y'all need to be playing MeowGun: Hell Denizen already 😼
The other shirt I ordered from @theyetee.com finally arrived (the first got lost in shipping but the customer service is 10/10), and it's a hecking winner! This monster roars for Trans Rights, and I've a monstrously proud shirt to match! ⚧️🦖 Even the unisex fits are deliciously comfy 😊
If you need added encouragement to pick up MeowGun: Hell Denizen, it's also a cat rescue game Every level has lost kittens to rescue and you get to hang out with them between episodes, just being a cat like them So...yeah, there's that Peek game design The soundtrack is also fucking amazing 🤘😼
Spending Trans day of Visibility playing one of the most trans games in existence: Meowgun: Hell Denizen By trans game I mean it's a hyper & chunky FPS where you play as a catgirl spouting action movie lines & all the armour pickups are pride flags It's like filling Quake 2 full of estrogen & rage
Well then as a fellow cat & shrine lover, here's the last one I took back in 2017 They were hanging out at a small shrine behind Sensō-ji temple. Super friendly, demanded lots of pats. It was late enough in the evening that it was just me & the kitty in this little patch of peace A purrfect moment
Judging by the sounds we heard they must be in there in the hundreds! Looked through my pics of back in 2014 & I only managed to catch a picture of one. Not escaping those yokai vibes Fushimi Inari Taisha is utterly incredible at night time, truly feels like the border between two worlds
It's Trans Day of Visibility, and with trans existence being villainised at a all-time high I'm reminded of one of my favourite lines from BIT (2019). So it's time to break out the vest! I am trans, I am a monster, I am who I'm supposed to be. Fuck anyone who says that's bad So let's be monsters!
As far as weird-ass plans to defeat giant monsters go Gamera vs Gyaos has one of my all-time favorites Because what better way to take out a giant, laser-spewing bat-thing than with a vat of fake blood on top of a super-charged revolving restaurant? 😂 The MST3K episode on this film is great too
Monster movie night with @lluisabadias.bsky.social was a personal favorite of ours, Gamera Vs Gyaos (1967) 🦇 An utterly brutal kaiju flick for the time which really cemented the tone of Gamera films into the future Silly, messy, gorey & monstrously fun My 2nd fave Showa Gamera movie after Barugon
My #AGDQ order finally arrived and @theyetee.com absolutely outdid themselves with the shirts this year (designer is @kduffles.bsky.social) Also got the same print as a flag-sized banner, & finally got my They/Them patch that I've wanted since playing Goodbye Volcano High by @ko-op.com 🔥⚧️🦖
MechWarriors stand up for what's right!! In BattleTech we stomp with pride! 🏳️🌈
This moment almost brought me to tears When I was a young monster seeing this would have changed my life for the better in immeasurable ways Now it's going to make lives better for future generations of Godzilla fans Canon trans baby Godzilla!! Thank you, @beeragon.bsky.social 💜⚧️🥹
Sending so much love and hope your way, I know how stressful this can be. Keeping my paws crossed for the kitty's recovery Here, have a cute shark surrounded by love (from Nimona) to bring you a little smile 💗
New glasses, felt cute 😊 Treated myself to my first new set in years since my disability pension came in and being able to see is a luxury these days even if you get the cheap frames You don't realise how much your cats shed till you take a photo in black clothes 😹
Got to show @lluisabadias.bsky.social Daimajin/Giant Demon God (1966) for the first time and it's exactly as iconic & powerful as I remember This really was the point where Daiei moved into far more graphically intense & heavy theatrical themes in their tokusatsu films, and it's so damn cathartic 🔥
Cats absolutely love hanging around the temples, it's no wonder they appear so often in Japanese mythology I found this one at a temple at Koyasan, and I'll always love this picture I'll always go visit shrine sites at night because there's always bound to be a friendly kitty hanging around
How's about a couple of cuddling kitties to brighten your day a little? 💜 Carmilla & Asterix are getting super cuddly as the weather gets colder, it's always a delight to see them snuggle up like this
Finally got around to watching Yojimbo (1961) and it has very quickly shot up my rankings of top Kurosawa films I'm a real sucker for a good "pit two groups of assholes against each other" storyline and this one is just so damn satisfying Turns out you can do a lot of good with a little chaos 🔥
Gamera says crush ICE!! Back when I was a little monster Gamera (1965) was my first kaiju film, and the giant turtle remains my favorite kaiju to this day It's such a tonal shift from the Toho kaiju films, and I love its weirdness 💜🐢 Was great watching it again with @lluisabadias.bsky.social
Godz, I almost forgot about the scene where they are training kids to practice using drone-craft to attack both military & civilian targets. Making a game out of horrendous war crimes Can't look at this without thinking of shit like the Call of Duty franchise. Indoctrinating kits into the military
Toys: an absolutely serious film that looks like this all about a self-obsessed general who turns a place of joy & creativity into a weapon factory for a war that hasn't happened so he can claim to be a military mastermind Watching this film with 2026 hindsight...holy fuck it nailed a lot of things
Update: I ate my HRT sandwich & am now re-watching Toys for the first time since my teens This is the first Robin Williams film I've watched in a long time and expecting an emotional landslide... Even the opening sequence is hitting me in the feels 🥲
If you like the idea of a pulpy detective visual novel, full of giant monsters, antifascist sentiment & defiant queerness, maybe go check out Kaiju Noir The next game promises to be even more monstrous, but every kaiju starts somewhere 🦖🏳️🌈 enbykaiju.itch.io/kaijunoir
This film does Baragon so dirty 😠 Not only do they get zero reason to be there, but they are easily the star of the show yet get upstaged by some guy flinging trees for a bit One day I need a film where Baragon gets to live & win! I'll always support the underdog, especially giant underdogs 🐶
The monster movie tonight was Frankenstein Vs Baragon (1965), a film neither I nor @lluisabadias.bsky.social had seen in long enough to forget most of it and... this is definitely a kaiju film I somehow also found the alternate ending version, which turned out to be better than the original 🐙🔥
Looking at this screenshot and asking myself "Which character that insulted me in Woodruff is this supposed to be? Because I feel like I should hold a grudge" 😅 I don't think I ever managed to finish either Woodruff or a Goblins game without heavy use of a walkthrough, but they were so damn cool!
Was gifted a very lovely Lego bonsai tree yesterday after what has been a particularly rough couple of days and it definitely helped brighten up both my desk & my mood Life right now is in one of those anxiety inducing holding patterns, but these remind me that things at rest can be joyful too
