A waning blood-smoke-red Oregon sunset kindles hope for a clear sun tomorrow.
For those not currently enduring wildfire smoke, this is our current status in Salem, Oregon. Last evening it was creeping close to the “very unhealthy” category.
Never know what I’m going to see outside my windows. I *think* they were training, since I didn’t hear sirens, see smoke nor find any nearby incidents on the PulsePoint app. around midday when they were here.
Also the power is back on. I think my building took one or two lightning strikes around 9:30 pm or so. It definitely sounded like it, and the power went out a few minutes following the first deafening crack - tallest building in the area, plus lotta communication equipment on roof.
Props to The Economist’s headline writer, but it would be a challenge to outperform whoever came up with the phone alert I received, “World’s Largest Condom Maker Struggles to Perform”
This year the Memorial Day Ceremony was held across the street from the Oregon Capitol building instead of at the WWII Memorial, due to the construction in Willson Park. Good to FINALLY see the face of the Capitol clear of construction barriers.

Perfect day on Minto Brown Island in Salem, Oregon along the path from Peter Courtney Bridge. The native NW Red Currant and Oregon Grape were in full splendid flower. (I *think* the currant’s visitor is a ladybug and not its pesky imposter, the Asian Lady Beetle.🤞)

The lights and lanterns were hung on limbs with care, In hope that evening visitors soon would be there. (Oregon State Capitol State Park.)
