It's pretty hot these days, so walkies with Kitty-boo are far from dynamic. She usually finds a spot in the shade and just observes. I even caught her falling asleep a couple of times 😸 Boo, we don't have to go outside for that! #cats #caturday #InternationalCatDay

Maybug had her spay appointment yesterday. The cute onesie the vet put on her lasted all of one minute after I let her out of the carrier. Cats sure are flexible. We decided to just keep it off and keep an eye on her. It was pretty exhausting 🥴 She just had to catch that fly! #caturday #cats

Recommended kitten weaning steps: wet food mixed with water -> wet food -> kibbles soaked in water -> dry food. Well, Tabby kitten went straight from mama's milk to mama's kibbles 😸 At this point he (we think) is the only one to also eat wet food - his, mama's, who cares. #cats #caturday #kittens

Tabby has special kitten pate cut into pieces, and Maybug has a bit of the pate and pieces in jelly mixed together, since she won't eat any one type of wet food for more than a couple of days and we have to trick her. The cats and bowls are on a pillow. There's also a kibble bowl, with a couple of kibbles left, to the right of the cats, and a bowl of water on a towel - guess why - to the left of them.

A photo taken only moments after the first one - here, the Tabby kitten and mama Maybug decided to try out the other one's food. Their bodies remained in the same positions, only their heads moved over to the other bowl, so they're crossing each other, with Tabby being below Maybug's neck.

Kitten care guide says: "In week 3, introduce a litter box. They probably won't use it yet, but they will explore. Make sure they don't eat the litter." So that's what I do now whenever they're awake - try to keep the litter out of their mouths. They sure are getting lively 😸 #cats #caturday

I've been on sleep duty on the veranda with the cats. I might be tired, since the hungry mama cat wakes me up several times a night, I might be depressed due to the RPG Maker forum shutting down, but these little uncoordinated Maybuglets always make me smile 😊 #cats #caturday #kittens

Did you know that a cat can go into heat just two weeks after giving birth? We didn't. I almost rushed Maybug to the vet because of sudden weird behaviour 🙀 Now she meows at night 😭 and is very affectionate - not towards us, but our shoes 🤔 Can't wait for the spay appointment... #cats

Well, Maybug gave birth a couple of hours after my last post, so we have almost week-old kittens now. Mr EntangledPear sneaked in while mama was eating (and does she eat!) and took a picture of the kindle 😊 It's almost time for them to open their eyes 🥹 #cats #kittens #caturday

We don't know what their bellies look like, but from the top, there are two that are white-grey, one probably only grey, and one mostly white, but with light orange and black patches, so a calico like mom. It's possible all of them are calicoes, but we'll have to wait for them to be big enough for us to be able to handle them.

Maybug, the new cat, hasn't been seen by the vet yet, but is otherwise settling in nicely (besides rejecting the fancy kibbles we got her 🙄). She met the resident cats briefly, and the reactions were not terrible 😸 Kitty-Boo doesn't seem to mind her, and she CAN be a nasty one. #cats #caturday

Kitty-Boo was hunting a bug today. I've never seen one like this before - it looked cool with that dark blue metallic colour. I looked it up and it's a black oil beetle, and I loved it until I found out that it parasitizes solitary bees 😞 Sometimes it's better not to know. #nature #insects

Went to the forest to look for morels, found a magical wood anemone carpet instead. It was like stepping into a fairy tale 😊 Hopefully I chose a good photo to make you feel the magic, too. #nature #forest #flowers

Most trees there are deciduous, which means that right now there's not much foliage to diffuse the sunlight, and so the picture is brightly lit, with dark shadows cast by the tree trunks. The ground is covered by the bright green leaves and blades of vegetation, and dotted by white, star-shaped flowers.
