My son who lives in Taos and I had to abort our spring ski trip due to weak coverage out west. Instead, we planned a trip to Valle Nevado in late August. Winter has arrived in the Andes. Yes, thats 2 feet yesterday and about 250" over the next three weeks.
In Vienna our Austrian Tunisian cabbie spoke 5 languages. When he learned we were from the USA, he said he was sorry somberly. I also saw this timely title on a bookstore shelf across from St Stephen Cathedral.

In preparation for our trip I have been reading an excellent book written by a Hungarian American almost 50 years ago. It's about the early days of Budapest at the peak of the Austro-Hungarian empire. Hungary did not become a country til its meteoric growth led Austria to grant self rule in 1867.

I got to see an original copy of the Declaration while at my reunion in Williamstown, MA. They also have original copies of the Constitution and the Articles of Confederation.
I attended my 40th college reunion, without my Dad, this weekend. In his honor, I sat with his remaining classmates at the annual meeting. I congratulated them all on making it as my doctor dad had given a talk at their 50th about how to make it to the 70th. The photo is from my 30th & his 60th.
