Mammary Development and Breast Cancer Lab at Michigan State University Astrophotography, nature and Triathlon posts too. #bcsm #oncsky
Also did a quick camping trip to Denali, managed to see all of the “Big 5” on the trip. #moose #Denali #Dallsheep #wolf #caribou
Arrived by floatplane, camped by bears with the other permit lottery winners and got up close with bears.
Back from a trip to McNeil Falls, like Brooks Falls, but MUCH closer to many more bears. #bears #alaska #brooksfalls #mcneilfalls
Antelope Island after #MRS2026 finished up to see the bison and burrowing owls! #birds #bison @metastasisresearch.bsky.social
Got up with the sun today to ride the Nembro to Selvino climb that has been on several pro races. 19 epic switchbacks in a 10km 2400foot climb… with a cafe at the top.
Pre-GRC Mammary ride near Bergamo. Biggest climb I’ve done, but tomorrow is a new day… if I could only sleep!
Bird migration hitting us now, 5 different warblers in the swamp I bike past today. Paused there and watched the downy woodpeckers go in and out of a tree, must be a neat since there were bringing lots of bugs.
Love meetings in San Diego since I can surf for an hour at dawn and still make it to the meeting in time. #AACR
International Space Station transiting the moon just a few minutes ago. Not good seeing tonight and angular size was only 35" since the moon was pretty low, but always fun to capture it. Will be sad when it deorbits. #astrophotography #ISS #internationalspacestation
Back from Birken 53km Ski Race in Norway. Epic race with 10K people finishing in Lillehammer Olympic Stadium. Recovering from bronchitis, #Delta lost my skis, got rentals that dragged the kick zone and was 3 hours slower than the last race (7:27:35 total time) - but still had a fantastic experience.
RAIN?!? I've got the Birkie this weekend (53 km classic XC ski race). VASA race last weekend was 50km and I'm ready to ski, NOT ready for snow to melt! #birkie
Nordic ski race today was a little chilly, sweat froze into sweatscicles!
42 miles of XC skiing meant I needed many coffees to work on the R01 until the wee hours of the morning. BUT somewhere around mile 30 I got a good idea for Aim 3 and had to revise!
Quick trip to Lake Michigan where the sunset was playing with the ice and mist/cloud coming off the water. Further out the ice wasn’t quite visible, but it is out there.
FINALLY a break in the clouds as Jupiter nears opposition. Europa in transit with a shadow close beside and Io in the corner. Fast processing so I can go to bed so colors off... but fun to see! #jupiter #astrophotography
Is there a spot in the common CV where I add that I built my own canoe?
So it got cold and clear with good seeing conditions for a few hours last night. The light of the full moon meant I had to shoot with a narrowband filter, and just a quick process shows that 4 hours on the horsehead is coming along nicely. The bright star is the bottom one on Orion’s Belt.
Yes I’m listening to the ass Dean talking now… but I’m also processing my capture of the Triangulum Galaxy M33. #astrophotography
Aurora quick pictures, really bright by eye! #astrophotography #aurora
Physiology experiments on my bike for fun… white is power, red is heart rate. Wonder if there is a wearable constant blood pressure monitor to integrate as well?
The best part of useless university admin meetings is sitting at the back and processing telescope data from a few nights ago. Quick processing of 6.5 hours of Heart Nebula data… need to nod sagely to make the ass Dean feel important, but happy to see what my redcat51 did here.
It’s the sad time of year when it is too dark to bike home safely and I’m stuck biking inside on Zwift. Plus the buses here love to pass the bikers and then pull into the lane and stop. Saw this is Basel, bike lane goes behind the bus stop!
At first I thought my camera had a glitch, but after reviewing individual frames, it seems like there was a whole train of satellites that messed up my Comet Lemmon shot! #astrophotography #A6Lemmon
