My beagle passed in March and I was having a horrible time coping. Then a few weeks ago I felt a thump on my bed. She was not allowed on my bed, but I decided to let her just this once and reached over to pet her ears. She wasn’t there, but since that night I’ve had peace.

I’m so sorry you’re going through such a terrible time. FWIW I did something similar for my pup when her time came. Knowing her last hours were full of treats, toys, and mischief brings such comfort. May your kitty rest easy, and may your heart remember her with joy.

My sassy, snuggly girl was diagnosed with lymphoma yesterday. This morning she was completely disinterested in her post-kitchen-cleanup treat & is sleeping instead of following me around while I finish chores. I knew adopting an 8-yr old would mean we wouldn’t have much time, but she’s only 11. 💔

The regime’s first stage of its plan to revoke birthright citizenship is inspired by the 1662 Virginia law that created chattel slavery in the American colonies.

On January 20, 2025, President Trump issued Executive Order 14160, Protecting the Meaning and Value
of American Citizenship. See 90 Fed. Reg. 8449 (2025) (E.O.). The E.O. provides that the following
categories of individuals will no longer be considered to be born “subject to the jurisdiction” of the
United States and therefore will no longer be U.S. citizens at birth:
(1) children whose “mother was unlawfully present in the United States and the father was not a
United States citizen or lawful permanent resident at the time of said person’s birth”; and
(2) children whose “mother’s presence in the United States at the time of said person’s birth was
lawful but temporary (such as, but not limited to, visiting the United States under the auspices of
the Visa Waiver Program or visiting on a student, work, or tourist visa) and the father was not a
United States citizen or lawful permanent resident at the time of said person’s birth.”

Whew! Finally finished reading through and taking notes on summaries of all the codes in a large #Qualitative research project. The research staff did a great job! That said, I’m def looking forward to sitting down with a trashy novel this weekend to recharge my brain. #AcademicSky

Laptop, red and blue pens, and multi-colored narrow post-its clutter a table also containing a stack of code summaries. The summaries have been tagged with the post-its, each color representing a different category of key thought I had as I was reading. The code summaries have notes written in the margins, and the laptop contains ideas for papers to write.

Oh poor baby. I’m owned by a beagle and although sometimes I think it would be nice if she did’t bark *quite* so much, this is just sad.

Tricolor beagle named Bea curled up on a blanket, which is made into a nice nest on top of a sort-of-cream-colored-couch that has seen better days. Bea’s nose is smushed into the blanket and she appears to be snoozing.

This is Bea, my right-hand #beagle. I adopted her when she was 8, and named her after Bea Arthur because she is so strong-willed and vocal. 😆 Anyway, you’ll be seeing a lot of her in the future! (Not sure if hashtags work here, but we’ll see.)
