A real piece of work in progress. Comics and music and wrestling and soccer and nature and, look, probably family stuff. Almost Toronto. (he, him)
The only thing sadder than a pink-wrapped, straw-ready grocery-store coconut is how much i enjoyed it.
This is lovely. Comics doesn’t always, always break your heart. (Added alt text.)
This comic will heal me. (Very relatedly, does anyone know WHEN Joe Kessler’s A Caravan for a Queen is coming out from NYRC so I can finally over that one time where I could’ve bought Donkey from him at TCAF and failed to do so?) www.joekessler.co.uk/donkey
My backyard has been blessed with a crow. Forced my family to eat dinner inside so we didn’t disturb our corvid friend. 🐦⬛
Ok, mid-toast, i was reminded tomorrow is our 29th dating anniversary and our wedding anniversary is later this month. Anyway, my son looks like the personification of Argentina threw up on him.
Anyway, it’s our 21st wedding anniversary tomorrow. When Switzerland causes an upset even without Manzambi it’s possible my mouth will mean i am back on the market, though, I guess.
My family isnt phased by much, but is absolutely terrified of our house centipedes. Still, they accept these guys are under my protection and forbidden from being messed with. So there will be a loud scream when one appears in a newly lit room & I run over to take a pic before it disappears again.
not enough of you liked my carpenter bees pics, so here: enjoy a boring photo of a pair of water striders as punishment
Went for a bike ride in between World Cup games and stumbled upon the neighbourhood’s new resident home-builder. (I always forget how huge beavers are.) 🦫
I forgot a day. I’ll double up with a zebra jumping spider and what the Seek app tells me is a black vine weevil and maybe no one will notice.
The thing about David v Goliath stories is that David does win. (i know it’s the hope that kills you, but also that hope is free. Allez les rouges.)
My daughter’s collection: Bombito, Larin, Oso, Schaff, Max. i am only slightly envious.
Literally two minutes after we got home, the sky just opened up and pelted the street
Convinced my kid to bike with me to the library to pick up a bunch of comics in a heatwave after Dan Berry’s new podcast with Michael Lark convinced me (i’ve only read his Terminal City!) 🚲 Twenty minutes later, i am sweat-soaked to the bone and she’s back in her air-conditioned room on Instagram.
In deeper reflection, it was likely a long nose gar. Still: super exciting! (Please enjoy this correction which is absolutely meaningless to everyone else but was eating me up inside. As a reward: another photo of the Outlet River, connecting East Lake and Lake Ontario in Sandbanks Provincial Park.
A chonky woodlouse isopod and a brown-lipped snail, posing like mismatched cop partners who just can’t get along but still get the job done in an 80s action movie.
Kicking off with two immortal enemies right beside me, locked in a death dance. Wasp v fly; choose your fighter.
Have spent much of the last few days living the life aquatic. Guys, underwater > being on land. 🛶
Been reading comics for more than four decades and still get surprised by pages that make me gasp in awe, in delight. Thank you, @kondoh-akino.bsky.social; thank you, @glacierbaybooks.com. glacierbaybooks.com/product/box-...
Her team won a bronze for their division! I ended the game by going to Kensington for donuts and a comic book! We are BOTH champions. ~FIN
“good morning” has given way to “awful afternoon.” Freezing in a downpour.
