Great music, gorgeous weather, perfect company. But my #1 memory of this year's festival will be when I was caught in a continuous loop of sliding down a steep slippery tarp while trying to put leggings on & laughing so hard that I couldn't do anything to help myself. 🤣🤣🤣 Edibles, man, amirite?
I rarely buy lunch/breakfast on workdays but today I am participating in the little treat economy. Rosewood Foods ftw.
I'm happy that communauto has extended its zone again, but as expected there are vehicles languishing for 30, 50, even 70(!) hours along the perimeter. (Thanks to Grovenor for that last one lol.) And exactly one flex vehicle within a 20min walk of us. Luckily I was able to find a station based car.
Lunchtime for some American coots (I think?) and babbies in a pond at Gasoline Alley. I love the biodiversity of this highway-adjacent place. Also,I really do need an actual camera!
One moment you're minding your own business on your patio; the next you're watching an unmarked police truck initiate a chase in your alley. They'd only turned on their siren a few seconds before ripping across the intersection/sidewalk, which has sightlines conveniently obscured by dumpsters & shed.
I'm also grateful that the moisture is keeping the dust down from the construction site in our alley, and washing away some of the mud deposited by the dump trucks earlier this week. Not sure about the structural integrity of this dirt pile though!
I may have been overly optimistic when I put sunscreen on my arms this morning, but at least I didn't waste my time putting on makeup. People's Poncho ftw. #yegbike #bikecommuting
Closed out my vacation week with a very full day! Took a trip to Kuhlmann's greenhouse, then potted my new balcony garden, then made a gazillion trips up and down the stairs to bring it all up to our place. Gardening is thirsty work.
It was a running joke this week that the warblers were my nemesis (nemeses?) because they were so close by but I couldn't actually spot them. No luck on this morning's hike, either. But here I am sitting at the picnic table in front of our cabin & this cheeky little fucker flies right up. #birding
I refilled the bird feeders on my office window this morning because I feel bad for the lil guys in this blizzard. And since I'm working from home today with my desk right by the window, I even closed the blinds to give them some privacy while they dine.
The large vacant lot on my street that has been a fenced-in dirt pile for 6 years is finally being redeveloped. It'll be a 6-storey apartment building - the tallest in the vicinity (neighbourhood is currently a mix of 3 & 4-storey condos/apartments, row houses under construction, & old bungalows. /2
When will @communauto.bsky.social impose consequences for members who leave vehicles in this condition? Asking for a friend who is me.
