A question for music fans and/or paper conservation types! This poster, from a memorable gig of my youth, has been below a skylight for too long and faded to match the walls (pic taken off ebay is what it used to look like). It looks a bit sad now, but would trying to recolour make it look worse?
This is what we think makes sense in our context, though it might not work for everyone....
Also featuring the best summation I have seen of the last ten years of leaders this country has endured...
Intrigued to see this in my emails this morning - Freecycle as the new frontier for academic dissemination?
Hive mind people who know more about plants than me, what is going on here? Little buds appearing to grow out of (many of the) leaves of a ?lime tree out and about today
The kids have found The Lady Grace Mysteries on the telly, and I don't think anything since Cocomelon has grated on me this much😬
As well as the fascinating interviews, one of the things I'm really enjoying about our current oral history project is getting out to bits of east London I've never visited. So much interesting history to explore, and finally putting a place to the hospital for lots of the collections we hold
Heading home from #HAP26 feeling impressed and inspired by so many amazing participatory archives & history projects. Also delighted not just to see my uni days in the current @uoscollections.bsky.social exhibition, but also reconnect with the arts tower (😍) & get to catch up with Sheffield friends
Oh @historyextra.bsky.social , you know what your listeners want to hear on the Monday morning commute
Today my generalised rage at the state of things is focused specifically on these 1970s files, and the job of trying to remove paper from their bendy metal prongs😤
Very excited to read today that the big daddy of archives, Sir Hilary himself, visited the Bart's hospital archives in 1938
When the kids return from their grandparents place with a tall green sibling
Brian Patten lived next door to my geography teacher. I'll never get over him coming to school to do a reading and blowing my tiny teenaged mind with the devastating and restorative powers of poetry. Still one of my absolute favourite poets. RIP Brian Patten
Really enjoyed this interview on Wooden Lives with the owners of a book, music and ephemera shop (not an archive!) open.substack.com/pub/woodenci...
In South Norwood, Croydon council built a new library space during covid to replace the brutalist one round the corner, overspent, threatened never to open either, and after local protests stuck with the old one. Which is lovely, but now we have a big empty unrentable identikit not-library too🤦♀️
First full week back after the holidays included an away day at my dream location, Crossness Pumping Station. Always full of admiration for my amazing team, and its great to be planning more great projects for the year ahead - but having their full support for my sewage obsession is an added bonus
It's the fact that she has labelled us 'mother' and 'father' that really tips this delightful portrait piece over the creepy edge
This has been the most excellent holiday reading @cethompson.bsky.social and @drkyliesmith.bsky.social. Such a timely book, dealing with so many of the questions we talk about in student sessions. Can't wait to get back to work now!
The thread of 'amazing things made by my amazing mum' was over on Twitter, so I can't add to it, but I am compelled to post another incredible piece by the inimitable @deborahjarman.bsky.social How incredible to have a granny who embroiders you into your very own Mappa Mundi❤️
