Soviet Guards infantry rifle company, TO&E organization December 1944. "Ideal" late was Soviet infantry organization. One rifle platoon was converted into SMG platoon in order to increase company firepower after reduction of bayonet strength. #ORBATBoys

Chinese infantry companies, TO&E drawings, 1942 and 1945. Chinese tried to compensate lack of artillery with grenade dischargers/mortars at the platoon level. Though I really doubt average Chinese platoon commander was good enough to properly coordinate indirect fire and movement. #ORBATBoys

This organization was introduced for the new regimental heavy weapons: Type 11 37 mm infantry gun and Type 11 70 mm infantry mortar, officially adopted in the 11th year of the Emperor Taishō's reign (= 1922). #ORBATBoys

In 1934 on this day Japanese torpedo boat Tomozuru capsized, killing almost all its crew. Disaster is often explained as IJN blind adherence to London treaty tonnage limit (warships of less 610 tons were exempt from all restrictions). BUT ... >
