Something a bit different: We arrived on platform 4 (one of the through platforms) in Brussels with an e300 which is quite rare. The platforms are used by our e320 trains on Amsterdam services.

Yesterday started at sunrise with the 491 kilometre journey from Paris to London and ended with a 28 mile sunset bike ride around the Cambridgeshire countryside. Today, it's Brussels and back. 🇬🇧🚅🇪🇺
World Cup Final night in Paris. Memories of being here the night France won in '98 which was rather special. The atmosphere was incredible. No phone cameras then, so memories not photos. A fire engine passing with people on the roof, and a very sore throat the next morning from shouting so much.

A fleeting glimpse of Montauban as we passed through non-stop. Tarn-et-Garonne and Quercy have a very special place in my heart from numerous family holidays in the département from the mid '80s onwards.
Ô Toulouse! An hour in between trains meant time for a much-needed coffee just across the road from the station. The high-speed line from Bordeaux now under construction, and due to open in 2032, will reduce the journey time to Paris by about 75 minutes. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/LGV_Bor...

Just seen a flight land from Manchester. Used ecopassenger.org to compare the CO² emissions with the same journey by train. Yes, I know trains are more expensive than planes. We need our governments to work together to create a level playing field.
Finding the actual swimming spot was tricky. Google Maps produced nothing and there were no signs from the main road. Asking a local in the restaurant did the trick. It was worth the walk dowm from the village. We could have driven it but it was a lot nicer having the anticipation as we descended.

Our train on Thursday has already been cancelled due to the heatwave.
40⁰ today in the Cévennes. I don't think I've ever felt so aware of climate change while away on holiday. And never so angry and anxious that there are those who deny it and are trying to thwart efforts to tackle it.
An early start today to drop 3 youngsters off at Nîmes station. Saw the still smouldering aftermath of a wildfire next to the A9 motorway on way to Pont du Gard.
Not a sight anyone wants to see. There's a fire in fields/forest visible from where we're staying in the Gard. Two planes have just dropped water on it. Really hope they get it under control swiftly and everyone is safe.
This morning's walk to the boulangerie featured a detour via the abandoned railway station in Saint-Ambroix. No trains since 2012 but there are proposals to reopen the line apparently. #Urbex
