- that turned out to be a mistake. I only made four of potentially a dozen banana breads, & although they were tasty, they didn’t have their usual moist crumb. Thankfully I kept my wet ingredients and dry ingredients separate. Trying again today. Adding a slurry of eggs, butter & buttermilk.

Important update from last night’s banana bread-making. How much banana bread I make is determined by how many frozen bananas there are. 10 cups of 🧊🍌!! So I ran out of eggs & substituted some @kingarthurbaking.bsky.social Whole Grain flour for regular whole wheat flour. Well -

Driving into DC tonight for dinner & was a bit late because of the president’s motorcade. We passed National Guard folks near the restaurant & as we we left, heard about shots fired at the Correspondents Dinner. And that it’s still happening. This is a surreal, tense place - & time! - to live in.

Leaving a local #NoKings protest. More later, but, 🤣: got too🥶 to walk, so I drove around the protest, honking & playing Bad Bunny’s “NUEVAYoL” *loudly*. The protesters ❤️ it but a 20-something guy head-bopping along in a car at a traffic light was *confused* when he saw me. Not the 🎯 demographic?

I wasn’t the biggest Nicki Minaj fan, but I was earwormed hard by “Super Bass”. As the daughter of an immigrant mom I won’t engage with any more of her art, including Lip Synch Battles. Yes, even Joseph Gordon-Levitt’s performance. (I know it’s trivial compared to *everything* but COME ONNN..!)
