Now that I'm at home: (Mind you, this is one interpretation of its meaning. It's still unsure exactly what the word means).
Ah yes, Christopher Nolan's Odyssey is such a visionary encapsulation of our ancient past of 2004.
New late 4th century (Javelin? Looks about Verrutum-sized) head found at @vindolandatrust.bsky.social! Photo by Vindolanda Trust.
Why am I only just now noticing the fish-tailed beast on the Aachen Situla? Really nice little remnant of Late Roman/Migration Era shield design. Possibly either due to the fact it's copied from an earlier ivory or possibly a symbol still in use!
Hi all, you may have seen my posts about my friend Toni's cat Rocket. Sadly Rocket declined rapidly today with a total blockage of his bladder. I was just told he suddenly and unexpectedly had to be put to sleep. Thank you all for considering him. He will be greatly missed.
... I really need to see if any of the documentation for Microsoft Encarta is still out there. These alleged "Byzantine Swords" were from the old program, and nobody's been able to track them down since. They're a bit questionable but there's some features notable enough to be worth investigating.
Ok y'all need to understand the level of autism I have about this particular Star Wars ship:
Damn the fact I didn't know this is why abstinence-only Sex Ed is failing the nation:
This is a reminder that headlines like this are inherently biased against nuclear as a technology. It's 1 reactor shut down, 2 with lowered output, out of 56 total, to prevent warm water discharge from killing fish. And this could be fixed by building cooling towers.
And here are the donation codes for those who can't stomach the image:
Star needs immediate surgery to remove the remains of her eye. I'm donating what I can myself. Please consider calling in or donating to the rescue. This is a rescue I have volunteered for and can vouch for. You can also donate to Charlotte Veterinary Specialists directly at 704-815-3939.
TOTJ is a weird mix of 19th century Greek uniform and Japanese tropical uniform (with Conan the Barbarian shoulder pads, naturally).
There's a lot of stupid Star Wars discourse on Twitter right now but I kinda appreciate how much the KOTOR armor borrows from the Greek σπολάς.
Some of the more interesting pieces from the Saint Louis Museum of Art.
Oh so apparently the EU5 Byzantine DLC is just RETVRN garbage, but it's not even right-wing Byzaboo RETVRN, it's just straight up a choice either fantasy Latin NeoRoman Principate or fantasy NeoHellenistic Greek Nationalism." Paradox really screwed the pooch on this. Damn.
There's a lot of ways this could be worse but it's still pretty disappointing.
I think it's because of this image of him bathed in the red glow, or this front shot:
