How to best bridge the time between two conferences? Well, I'm trying it with a long weekend in London. - and it's wonderful! I got 26.000 steps in today, while still finding time to just sit down and read and admire this beautiful city!
Ended #EABS2026 scientifically on a high note with a paper by Veronika Burz-Tropper, who talked about her new project together with Katharina Pyschny, trying on bringing OT and NT studies in more interdisciplinary dialogue, by studying questions of anthropology in biblical texts together.

First paper of the conference for me is by @zachariasfrey.bsky.social, who's talking about his work on gender sensitive textual criticism in a methods session the that also deals with the question of how we teach these topics to our students. #EABS2026

Prof. Hector Patmore gives us insights into some of the current research projects at the department of biblical studies at KU Leuven. Lots of great stuff mostly around textual criticism going on. #EABS2026
Prof. Veronika Burz-Tropper tells us about the last century of biblical studies here in Leuven. Of course an impressive history of great scientists that invested in many big projects and in the education and fostering of upcoming scholars. #EABS2026
Prof. Pierre van Hecke, from the local organising committee here in Leuven, gives us part of a run through of the story of biblical science in Leuven, which starts already back in 1517, when Erasmus of Rotterdam arrived here and takes up his work. #EABS2026
Prof. Bénédicte Lemmelijn, Dean of the faculty of catholic Theology at KU Leuven welcomes us and also mentions how happy she is to see, that EABS brings biblical scientists from all stages of academic life together. #EABS2026
Marc Vervenne, honorary rector of KU Leuven welcomes us and leaves us with the following thoughts on the importance of universities: "Universities are the only place in this world where our totality as selfs and society come together" #EABS2026
Here we are. @dyma.eurosky.social opens this year's EABS conference. With 700 participants (560 present here in Leuven, and around 140 online via zoom), it is the biggest EABS conference yet. I'm looking forward to 4 days of biblical networking and learning. #EABS2026

"Carmen" von George Bizet, trifft einen auch nochmal anders, wenn mindestens wöchentlich über einen Femizid berichtet wird. - aber grundsätzlich tolle Produktion mit tollen Stimmen beim Opernsommer in Wien. Mein Highlight: Gabriela Hrženjak als Micaëla - was für eine wunderschöne Stimme!
This was fun! I got to present ideas for my Habilitation at a NT colloquium at the University of Regensburg today. - and got great and inspiring feedback! Good thing summer break is here and finally gives me some time for my research again! Thank you, Judith König and Tobias Nicklas for having me!
