Evelyn Fenn
@evelynfenn
Asexual. Aromantic. Author with two published novels to my name: ‘Friends Without Benefits’ and ‘How to Share a Cat and Other Life Lessons’. I’m querying a third while working on a fourth.
#PretendPanel I can write pretty much anywhere; I love being outdoors when possible. Good views, fresh air, birdsong, uncluttered space & away from distractions. On the computer: switching between apps, devices & printout helps me spot errors and can be like using fresh eyes each time I change.
#PretendPanel I want to take this Freebie Saturday to thank you to @hiriadunning.com for hosting Pretend Panel and to take the opportunity to wish everyone a happy remains-of-the-holiday season and new year when it comes. Oh, and here’s a picture of today’s sunset. Pretty!
Merry Christmas Eve and a happy Ho! Ho! Ho! to you all! 🎄🎅 Here's a tiny snippet from my novel, Friends Without Benefits. It's not a Christmas book, but Christmas does come up in conversation a few times. For example... #LGBTbooks #acebooks
Some pictures from last weekend’s Oban Pride. Thanks to everyone involved for a well organised event! #Op25BestPhoto #ObanPride #ObanPride2025 @obanpride.bsky.social
#PretendPanel #acebooks #lgbtbooks My published books are: ✨Friends Without Benefits ✨How to Share a Cat and Other Life Lessons Both contemporary, with #asexual / queer main characters.
#PretendPanel I’m sharing pictures from one of the places which features in my book How to Share a Cat and Other Life Lessons. If the images don’t inspire you to track down the book, perhaps they will inspire you to visit the west coast of Scotland instead.
#pretendpanel #writingcommunity A longtime fan, I went to a Dick Francis book signing. Everyone ahead of me bought books as presents, asking for them to be dedicated to Great Aunt Flo who was in hospital etc. When asked who my book was for, I bashfully said, “Me.” Mr Francis looked delighted.
@canopyrobin Ordered earlier this week. Arrived today. The pin is lovely as is the sticker which arrived with it. Thank you from a happy customer. If you ever do an ace, aro or aroace versions of the pin, I’ll queue up to buy.
Favourite pen & notebook. Favourite picnic table, view & time of year. Warblers are warbling and lambs are bleating. It’s a warm, late afternoon—a perfect time to be jotting down notes which might one day morph into a story. Anyone else have favourite places to write? #writingcommunity
#pretendpanel Nice things: swallows, willow warblers & wheatears are back for the summer. Bluebells are flowering. Had a lovely birthday. Self promotion: if you want to give me a belated present and treat yourself at the same time, why not buy one of my books?
Happy #InternationalAsexualityDay to my fellow aces! The ace community has brought me friendship, solidarity, inner peace (because it has dispelled the notion of being broken)… I’ve been places I never expected to go & marched at Prides. I’ve even written books with ace MCs. Feeling grateful.
My stories’ settings are often inspired by places I know & love. Here’s a picture from a walk I took today. This place hasn’t appeared in a story yet, but it’s probably only a matter of time. How many others draw on the landscape for inspiration? Thnx, Hiria, for #pretendpanel. It’s fun!
#pretendpanel The first I can remember was Michael Strogoff (Jules Verne), which I devoured as a teen. Rollicking adventure with lots of angst. Unfortunately, I was gutted by a twist at the end, which undermined so much of what had gone before. Would top my all time fave list if not for that.
#AskAnAuthor Writing is one way I unwind from my day job. But other ways to unwind and avoid my WIP include fibre arts (knitting, spinning) and enjoying the local wildlife and scenery. Last Christmas, I resolved to learn to crochet and I’m hooked!
Thank you! Please boost / show some love for How to Share a Cat and Other Life Lessons by Evelyn Fenn. This is my second published novel and far fewer people have noticed it than my first. (It’s amazing the difference being included in a Goodreads list can make.)
Aroace writer, and author of two published books. Both are contemporary novels with a cosy vibe. I'm proud to have included older aroaces as main characters in both, along with themes of personal journeys and friendship. (Both novels published by Nine Star Press.)
#BluePitHype My attempt at a mood board for my near-future speculative conspiracy thriller, The Legend of the White Assassin. When a rookie reporter discovers her editor has buried her scoop, she risks her ideals and life to expose the truth.
Out now! - unexpected friendship - mysterious past - misunderstandings - blended and found families - a cat unsure where home is Available from ninestarpress.com/product/how-... and online retailers. #lgbtqia #asexuality #books #aromantic
My novel, Friends Without Benefits, isn’t a Christmas story, but Santa gets discussed anyway. Why not buy yourself a non-festive bit of festive cheer? ninestarpress.com/product/frie... and other retailers.
Someone rec’d a book to me at our local book swap. I’m more intrigued by the 10 yr old ticket/bookmark within. Who went for a day trip b/w Aberdeen & Stonehaven? Why? And how did the ticket end up the other side of the country? There’s a story here. I can feel it.
Feeling bombarded by Black Friday offers? Here’s another, but this one comes with a chance to escape for a few hours! Buy a book-doesn’t have to be mine, though I’d like it if it were ;)-make a brew, and lose yourself in a story! ninestarpress.com
On the last day of #AceWeek2023 I have great pleasure in letting you know How To Share a Cat and Other Life Lessons is coming Jan 2024. More ace rep to add to your TBR piles! Publ Ninestar Press.
My first post here... Celebrating its half birthday today, Friends Without Benefits has been in the world for six months now! 🎉 Would anyone like to give it a boost/show it some ❤️? And maybe help me find some mutuals? Available from NineStar Press & online book sellers.
