Trying to grow the discussion on Minnesota United FC tactics, one clip at a time. #mnufc #MinnesotaUnited @mnufc.com
Cam talking about Yeboah's chance: 🔹 Wide space, 3v3, slower tempo 🔹 Gene pops up in the open half-space (creates +1) 🔹 Pereyra drags LCB to him & creates 2 options for Gene (tempo picks up now) 🔹 1) Yeboah thru ball 2) 1-2 with Pereyra 🔹 RCB rushes to cover Gene, creates opening for Yeboah #MNUFC
2nd Goal Conceded vs. SKC: 🔴 Major breakdown in the press. Massive space offered to Garcia. 🔴 Was it Padelford's mark? In post-game Cam did mention our guys go man-2-man during the press. #MNUFC
1st Goal Conceded vs. SKC: 🔴 Pereyra shadow-marking & gets the intercept, but immediately gives it up. 🔴 His mark sneaks in behind after the mistake to create the 4-3. 🔴 Superb individual speed from Capita & movement from Joveljic to finish the move. #MNUFC

What Cam said yesterday: What gets cut off at the end by the crazy logo: "We're certainly always looking to improve the squad." #MNUFC ⚽ @northlandsoccer.com 🎤 @kstptv.bsky.social 📹
Keep an eye on the final-third tomorrow. Can we spot what they’ve been working on? 🧐 With what Trapp said, look out for more patterns & automatisms, & maybe less reliance on individual brilliance from Pereyra. Something needs to change. 26th in goals scored. www.twincities.com/2026/07/21/l...
If he can take advantage of the rules laid out by #MNUFC on their media page, I'm in. 👌
As for the wingback comment. Heat map is as expected: Ant getting into the box far more often & Duncan staying wide + getting to the end line. Duncan often also inverted, not to get on the ball, but to create space for Pereyra. I guess we will see what changes might come...🤔 #MNUFC
What has Kyle heard or seen..? 🧐 Is that why Knowles has been pretty coy about discussing the closed door matches? 🤔 #MNUFC
Cam answering a question about the closed door matches with, 'We've been able to test some guys and get some different looks for the team' really perked my ears... #MNUFC ⚽️ @mnufc.com 📹
Re-listening to some old pods of Sporting Directors being interviewed, stole/tweaked 2 more questions:
I really believe Knowles wants to play with a back-4, so the positions I've targeted for new transfers aim to fill some of the gaps I think we have... My perspective could shift, particularly if players are sold, but here's currently I'm thinking: #MNUFC

The first (and maybe last?) time we've seen Fitz this season. A clip of his 8 minutes vs. RSL: #MNUFC
Re-watching the game and I feel like Boxall was quite lucky the striker didn't go down on that shoulder pull - could have seen red… #MNUFC
Boxall also touching on Cam's concerns: "Organized when we're pressing" "That one time we get beat, it doesn't create a domino effect" #MNUFC 📹 KSTP-TV
"Guys get left on an island" Cam talked about how there were moments when the team wasn't on the same page regarding our press/counter-press. Here are two examples he might be referring to: 🎥 @mnufc.com #MNUFC
One interesting thing that’s popped up over the past couple of games (and maybe longer, but didn't notice): during the build-up, we’ve been doing a left tilt with Duncan taking up the right half-space, and Pereyra isolating himself wide on the right. #MNUFC
This is NOT a criticism of Duggan; he’s been brilliant for us. The critique is Knowles decision to put a left-footed player at RCB, making it far more difficult for him: 🟥 Becomes a pressing trigger in build-up. 🟥 Difficult passing angle to wide players. 🟥 Fewer line-breaking passes. #MNUFC
Disaster in seconds: 🟦 We look safe defensively in our usual 3-2 shape (Pereyra drops when Triantis advances). 🟥 A back-pass that's too slow from Triantis. 🟥 Romero completely overestimates his ability to close the distance. #MNUFC
Against a 442 defensive block (I believe NE plays), and a team with such a high PPDA (17.1) they might not be too aggressive on the wide jumps, I wonder if our LCB/RCB will primarily be the first gap in our attack tonight - and if so, curious to see how it develops from there... #MNUFC
It's difficult to figure out what happened in the middle of the sequence since there isn't a good camera angle. But the play starts with Boxall on Navarro, who for some reason leaves him to pressure the dribbler. Also, Diaz…making it quite easy to stay onside. #MNUFC
My guess. Boxall will come in for Romero at 60'sh and push Duggan to RCB and he'll take CB. (This is all if Duncan is ruled out)
If Triantis departs this summer, let's hope for a bidding war. Transfermarkt has linked him with several clubs over the past couple of months. #MNUFC
