The Myth of Progress. That is one of the most pernicious lies which America especially chooses to believe. We have been raised and are constantly propagandaized to believe that Might, whether it be physical or economic, is evidence of Progress; and that Progress comes from being in the Right. The CEO of Palantir was quoted saying, "quite frankly, if somebody makes a lot of money on something, then it must be right". And far too many believe that, not just about companies, but about our country, and about its economic and military might. We believe that because the USA has power that it is therefore Right. If any other less powerful country were rounding up immigrants into concentration camps and sending them to countries they have no connection to; were killing people on the high seas with no positive identification of who they are or what they are doing; were launching unilateral attacks inside other countries and threatening other attacks on other countries; and were kidnapping the leaders of other nations: that other, less powerful country would be breathlessly labeled a rogue state by the media, international outcry would be universal, and we'd be pressured to act to maintain the “peaceful world order”. The only reason we are not treated as the bully we are, why we don't see ourselves clearly as the bad guys, is because we believe that our Might shows that we are Right. We are not. We *are* the bad guys, the bully, the rogue state, the evildoer. The Myth of Progress is the bedrock of exploitation and oppression.
