Wanted to show how I use my niddy noddy for processing my handspun. This 2 yard niddy noddy is made from standard plumbing piping you can get from the hardware.

Completed ‘Chestnut Bonnet’, knit in fyberspates vivacious yarn in Lundy Island colourway. Bonnet modelled by my partner who has a perfectly normal sized head. Chestnut Bonnet pattern by Yevheniia Pyroh. Pattern can be found on Etsy or Ravelry.

Sunflower tapestry WIP. The canvas wasn’t rolling smoothly because of the height difference between the stitched & unstitched areas. So I went back to fill the background areas I’d skipped over. Doing large blocks of a single colour is incredibly boring.

I’ve been doing themed month photos for my baby throughout the year & one of them was viking era themed to coincide with our local medieval festival. This was a lot of trial and error as baby proportions are weird -front panels, armpit squares, and side gores needing re-cut.

Shrug/bolero WIP. I finally found the perfect pattern for a special variegated handspun - ‘Moira’ from Rowen Classic Tweed Vol 21. This yarn was made from 3 different @fossilfibers colourways with tones that were a perfect complement.

The first load of fleece (about 1/3rd) has been washed. Lanolin dissolves in water thats 60C, but wool doesn’t like hot temperature or sudden temperature changes otherwise it’ll felt. There is 1-2 rinse baths after the scour, which isn’t shown, just to get any remaining soap out.

Completed hobbit house full body cross stitch. Piece is completed on 14ct aida cloth & measures 30x30cm. Stitched using DMC cotton threads.

Sunflower tapestry WIP. I focused on getting the 3rd sunflower and the bottom leaves completed. This represents approximately 2 weeks work.

I’ve had this perendaleXmerino fleece for almost a year now, so it’s time it gets washed so the lanolin doesn’t set or discolour the wool. Since I can only wash fleeces in tubs in my bath, I prefer to pick the locks so they can be lined up in washbags.

Our Pathfinder group wanted a break from dungeon crawling, so we did an airbrush painting day instead. I managed to get this lovely base gradient & spotlight highlighting. I haven’t really planned this paint job, so I’m going to let it sit whilst I contemplate next steps.

More progress on the sunflower tapestry. I’m doing each sunflower individually, just in case my guesstimate on how much wool I needed is wrong and I need to get more.

Finished the 5th section on the hobbit house cross stitch. I am so close to finishing the image and am getting super excited to see the whole scene come together!

I’m all ready to ply these singles!! Some of these have been ‘resting’ since before my baby was born! Everything except the turkish spindle are #fossilfibers colourways that I’m super excited to see as yarn.

Almost there! I found an error in the pattern when decreasing but thankfully it was really easy to figure out a workaround. I am not looking forward to doing the second cord though. I’m planning to steam block this to preserve the structured texture.

My partner works for Google & there was interest from colleagues in learning how to spin. So I made up some starter packs & over the fortnight conducted 2 one hour workshops at the Google offices. So proud of my students who tried everything & made some lovely yarn.

It was so lovely to meet Adam Savage today! I had made him a pouch using my first ever handspuns that I had woven into cloth. He was fascinated and appreciative of the gift & I hope it serves him well into the future. Sooty also came along to show off his handmade travel puppet box.

bought this vintage Royal Paris Collection D’Art tapestry canvas a year ago & just recently spent the $$$ for the wool. Just this flower and the surrounding leaves represents about 3 weeks of work.

I knit up myself a little headband using some handspun from my stash. It was a refreshingly quick knit, only taking up a few days of work, and it’s very comfortable to wear.

Completed pines cardigan knit baby cardigan. Made using fyberspates sock in verdigris & oatmeal colourways. Buttons are natural horn. (Pattern is the Pines Cardigan by KnitduNord - do not recommend pattern).

Decided to make a small teddy bear for next the Royal 2027 competition. I haven’t decided yet whether this will be a plain bear or a clothed bear, mainly because the fur I’m using colour shifts between shades of blue/grey or shades of grey/silver/purple depending on lighting.

WIP of a bonnet. I’m making the Chestnut Bonnet by Yevheniia Pyroh using some fyberspates 4ply yarn. Doing the i-cord almost broke me because it looks like a flat twisted noodle until you’ve done about 5 or so centimetres!

Alrighty, this is looking awesome! This is also the first time I’ve ever done sleeves and had to deal with picking up underarm stitches, & it was much less intimidating than I was led to believe.

Blocked the SilverNeedleTea shawl and I’m pleasantly surprised at how generally even the large holes turned out (they had me worried whilst crocheting). After it was dry I decided that it needed an extra element to really ‘pop’ the design, so I added some bead dangles.

WIP of the Pines Cardigan by KnitsduNord. I’m using fyberspates sock yarn in oatmeal & verdigris from my stash to make this up for my baby to grow into. I really hate it’s taken this long to actually work on this, but I was put off by how poorly written the pattern is.

I am super pleased with how the colours are playing out, it’s reminding me of honey & baked treats. I would like to use up the whole ball, however I’m getting the feeling that this pattern won’t stretch quite that far.
