I met Gerry 2 years ago and told him how much his work had meant to me. He was a true pro who carved strong careers in comics and television. A renowned jerk and top-tier pro once called me, "The Gerry Conway of the 90s." He meant it as a slur. I took it then as I carry it now: a great compliment.

I’ve been super fortunate that the longest stretch in 40 years of not having a writing assignment for me was four months, and I recommend if you have the ability, just take a month off before even thinking about it and give your mind and body a chance to rest
