New toy 👀 (This is actually like 35 years old and cheap on the used market, but contemporary to the camera body and lens which are in the shop rn.)

UP 1979 is (was?) their Employee Resource Group unit, but I feel gets an honorary mention for rainbow and "We Are One". Plus, it makes a nice head end for this short little hopper train (CN rainbow car trailing).

Seems like a fine time to show off my current project - a Ken Kidder (boxed as Kawai Model) 85-ton Baldwin steeplecab kit, which I'm painting up for my proto-freelance/alternate-history traction line. Also getting re-motored and DCC installed because of course it's gonna.

Right? It's so sad. 😭 It's across the board too, I've been ordering a bunch of vintage clothes for Ms Bun from eBay, and they're so much better quality than what you can buy off the shelf now.

In train news from Fae: I picked up this little goober car from a hobby shop near NYFB, and repainted it into a MOW car for my NYLI traction line. With that off the workbench and some minor repairs, the steeplecab is getting prepped for paint.

Lol well, having just been talking about retro-esque hardware, I do still have my 3DS XL from college. Fits better in my hands than I would've given it credit for...

I love art shows at cons, and I'm always a bit disappointed whenever a con doesn't have one. I actually have a wall in my office which is almost all originals that I've picked up over the years from con art shows (not including some hung in other places too).

Project today: Vintage BaB skirt from eBay was too big for Ms Bun (felt like the elastic on it was all stretched out), so I went to Michael's and got materials to make a belt for her.

Trying out some new-to-us (vintage/eBay) outfits on Ms Bun. 👀 Also seeing how much Build a Bear has been going downhill through their tags. 😩

It's in my hands now, and I can tell you...sod all, lol. Nothing is obviously different from a production P2K BL2 aside from the shell being this slightly frosted clear material. The box contains no paperwork and is pretty naked aside from one handwritten letter "C".

Alright model train Bsky, help a girl out. I've just bought a mystery - a P2K BL2, which would be an unremarkable purchase except for the fact that the shell on this one is *clear*. AFAIK the undec ones were normally black (early) or gray (late). Excuse the auction pic, I'm still waiting for it.
