Fake Yarra Trams
@fakeyarratrams
The real news from a fake perspective, about tram life in Melbourne. Account also often hijacked by Depot Cat.
Humans. You have once again failed to mention that yesterday was International Cat Day. You will now have to make it up to me by making every other day of the year International Cat Day. If you protest, you get a scratching. ~Depot Cat
These humans have agreed to take Depot Dog to “live on a farm” for me. I told them I had to come along for the ride, because they will owe me a kebab after it. Everybody wins today. ~Depot Cat
Throwback Thursday: Swanston St, 1956, during the Olympics. People are just randomly crossing the road wherever they please, blocking cars from using the road, effectively turning it into Swanston Walk, a silly concept that will never work. #YarraTrams
Ummm, hello? Anyone there? Come on humans, let me down from the top of the Melbourne Star. Don’t tell me it’s gone bankrupt already, it’s only been open a couple of days! This thing really is a joke. Where the hell are the replacement buses? ~Depot Cat
Throwback Thursday: In 1971 Ballarat tram No.36 visited Melbourne to promote tourism to the cold and barren dump. The promotion was unsuccessful, resulting in Ballarat blaming the tram for the failure, and so they closed their tram network. #YarraTrams
Jacinta Allan has stepped down, and now Victoria needs a new Premier? Well, it’s a bit lower than my current job of ruling all the world, but I’ll do it. How many kebabs does it pay? ~Depot Cat
What was that alarm? I didn’t do it! Ok, so I did do it, but I got away with it! Ok I didn’t get away with it, but it was all your fault, you were the mastermind of the whole thing, I have proof! It’s flimsy, but it’s still proof. ~Depot Cat
Who else is watching the Commonwealth Games gymnastics? Really easy stuff, I don’t know why you humans need a medal for it. ~Depot Cat
Christmas in July? No thanks! Unless it’s start Christmas in July, and keep it going until December. Bring on all the festive food, my belly needs it. ~Depot Cat
Throwback Thursday: Y.469 out the front of Hawthorn Depot, in the early 1980’s undertaking driver training duties. These days the training centre has been closed, just like how many of the schools across Victoria are closed today, due to a teacher’s strike. #YarraTrams
No idea why I didn’t get a game at the World Cup. I’m the greatest player there has ever been in every sport. ~Depot Cat
Human! You have again failed me by getting the kitten sized tower. How am I meant to rule over you from above, when I can’t even get to the top? Now get the butter to get me out of this predicament at once, so I can scratch you. Oh, and leave the butter to snack on. ~Depot Cat
Throwback Thursday: 1965, W2.495 heading inbound on Rt.70, gunning up to jump over the Riversdale Rd tram/train level crossing, to keep on time after being delayed by a train. The tram cleared the jump and remained in service until 1979. #YarraTrams
So I may have lied on my résumé, and now I’m in a situation I can’t get out of. If anyone knows where I can steal a panda, that would be great. They only feed me bamboo here, and that was not specified on the job description at all. ~Depot Cat
Throwback Thursday: December 2013, 3537 seen departing the Domain Interchange and crossing the Park St tracks, advertising Telstra. These days the Park St tracks are useless, just like the Telstra network. #YarraTrams
Hey you! Would you like to sign up for my Only Felines account? You’ll get to see all the best feline action, and me in OMG poses. It’s only 30 kebabs a month. ~Depot Cat
Extra Trams this morning for cats wanting to bask in a sunbeam. As the sun keeps moving the tram will take you to the new warm spot. Humans will just have to find another way to get to work, you’re not important at all. ~Depot Cat
Throwback Thursday: 1960 and the construction of the Flinders St overpass over King St shows W2.397 using temporary tracks, to ensure tram services were not interrupted. In 2005 the overpass was removed, with tram services suspended during the works. That’s progress. #YarraTrams
Throwback Thursday: A photo of me in 1916, on my way to the newly constructed Hawthorn Tram Depot, to inform them that I will accept the position of Depot Cat that I had just created, thus beginning a tradition that continues at all depots to this day. ~Depot Cat
It’s the start of the new financial year, so give me all your finances, or I’m not letting any trams out. Sure I don’t know what a finance is, but I want it, or at least the box it comes in. ~Depot Cat
No Tram Cops today, instead you get Tram Cats. Make sure you have a valid Myki, or they will sit on your lap and shed hair all over your black clothing. ~Depot Cat
The humans have gone away to do something called shredding before their tax audit, so they have left me in charge for the week. Unless you give me kebabs, I’m not posting anything, because none of you are worthy of my awesomeness. ~Depot Cat
Ummm, I hate Mondays? Where is Odie so I can push him off the table? See, I’m Garfield, not Depot Cat, so stop saying that Depot Cat has broken into your home and is eating your lasagna again. ~Depot Cat
Throwback Thursday: Oct 20, 1991. During the PTC Open Day we experimented with running a reduced tram service, using tram No.2, which had been left this way after being washed in hot water. It wasn’t a success, particularly with taller passengers, so was scrapped. #YarraTrams
Thanks for the new sitting spot human. Nice of you to also have my name written on the side. But why are you laughing so much at my inability to read? I reckon you need a scratching for that. ~Depot Cat
Throwback Thursday: 1943 a Conductress punches the key in the Bundy clock to show the tram is on time. This was the responsibility of the Driver, but he was probably busy with other duties, like complaining to other men about how women are slack and ruining the job. #YarraTrams
Elon is not the world’s first trillionaire, I am. Sure I don’t know what a trillion is, but I would have done it first because I’m the greatest there ever was, ever is, ever will be. ~Depot Cat
I like this new bottom warmer you got me humans. It really hits the spot in winter, and lasts for hours. The best part is the free food that was already here. Best day ever! ~Depot Cat
Throwback Thursday: c.1950’s showing the corner of Swanston & Collins Sts looking south. We really like the markings showing pedestrians to keep left, marked on the ground so it’s easier to see when watching videos on your phone. #YarraTrams
