FarmSTAND
@farmstand
Fighting for a food system that nourishes and empowers communities and workers ✊🏽 and protects animals and the environment 🌏 – NOT wealthy corporations.
The industrial agriculture system forces slaughterhouse workers to work for hours without providing the basic relief of bathroom breaks. Consequently, nearly everyone has stories of workers peeing on the line. (1/5)
Trump's Department of Labor is trying to change the rules to lower wages for all farmworkers. Five former secretaries of labor have signed onto an amicus brief we submitted in @ufw.bsky.social's suit to strike down this illegal rule change. MORE ➡️ buff.ly/NYFaySD @ufwfoundation.bsky.social
We just won back $127M for the next generation of farmers! The Increasing Land, Capital, and Market Access grants were illegally canceled as part of Trump's anti-DEI purge. Thanks to us and our allies, those grants will be restored to organizations helping build a fair and sustainable food system.
The court just ruled that the USDA must restore $127M in illegally canceled Increasing Land, Capital, and Market Access grants! Along with @earthjustice.org, @selc.bsky.social, and Farmers Justice Center, we're representing 28 groups fighting back against Trump's anti-DEI agenda.
FarmSTAND was among the first groups to object to a glyphosate settlement with Monsanto that takes rights away from farmers and farmworkers. We will be on the lookout for more.
FarmSTAND represented farmers and farmworkers in an amicus brief explaining to the Supreme Court the absurdity of Monsanto and its allies' claim that the future of the global food supply was at stake.
Farmers and farmworkers have been loud and clear: Monsanto does not speak for them. Today's SCOTUS ruling for Monsanto impunity hurts farmers, farmworkers, and rural communities.
Independent ranchers are sick and tired of being forced to pay into shadowy checkoff programs that unfairly benefit Big Ag corporations.
WORKERS’ RIGHTS WIN: A judge denied JBS’ outrageous attempt to dismiss our case against JBS for exploiting Haitian slaughterhouse workers. FarmSTAND, @towardsjustice.bsky.social, and Nichols Kaster will push forward to obtain justice for these workers.
The Land, Capital, and Market (LCM) Access grants were designed to help the next generation of farmers get the resources they need to build local food systems that benefit their communities. The Trump admin's decision to cancel those grants creates more barriers for young, underserved producers.
Trump’s USDA illegally cut off funding for groups building a food system where more people can become farmers. We’re suing the government to make sure they honor these grants. farmstand.org/recently-shu...
We're in court today seeking an order to stop Southern Colorado Farms from preventing their workers from hosting legal service providers at their on-farm housing. Being able to host legal and medical services is an invaluable defense against exploitation.
Monsanto is trying to convince us that not holding them accountable is a favor to American farmers. In an op-ed for Agri-Pulse, FarmSTAND ED Jessica Culpepper breaks down why independent farmers benefit from more accountability from Big Ag, not less. Read more ➡️ www.agri-pulse.com/articles/246...
FarmSTAND's vision of the next food system is one created & owned by workers & communities. We spoke with El Futuro Es Nuestro (It's Our Future), a farmworker-led initiative in NC. Thank you to María for talking with us, and support El Futuro Es Nuestro on their website ➡️ elfuturoesnuestro.org
April was a busy month! Big Ag tried to grow its power through the Supreme Court and the USDA, and we stood up for farmers and farmworkers at every turn. Join our email list to be among the first to get updates from the fight for a fair food system. Join the movement ➡️ farmstand.org/signup
Our labor laws carve out huge exceptions for ag work. One example: children as young as 12 can work on farms. Monsanto wants impunity over harm from Roundup. That's a dangerous combination.
Today, Monsanto is arguing at the Supreme Court that it should be protected from lawsuits over the health effects of its pesticides. We're standing with 15 farmer and farmworker advocacy groups who want Monsanto to be accountable for the cancers and other health problems that their products cause.
The USDA is proposing raising line speeds for chicken/poultry processing from 140 chickens/minute to 175/minute. To justify it, they're blatantly misrepresenting a study they commissioned. We're filing comments on behalf of the study authors, who don't want their science twisted to endanger workers.

Monsanto wants us to believe that their pesticides—and the health and environmental harms that come with them—are necessary for modern farming. 15 farmer and farmworker advocacy groups joined our amicus brief to say that's not true. They want accountability. Learn more ➡️ buff.ly/5AztXuo
Ag gag laws are a Big Ag tactic to criminalize or penalize whistleblowing and keep us uninformed about how our food is made. See our full post on IG ➡️ www.instagram.com/p/DWkGR0Oj43...
One detail in six-time Oscar winner One Battle After Another shows how immigration raids targeting food system workers are a key part of the white supremacist playbook. See how this all relates to FarmSTAND's fight for immigrant and farmworker justice in our latest take. ➡️ buff.ly/psB9Mme

Big Ag has been supporting anti-immigrant politicians in public and lobbying against some deportations in private, panicked over the threat of losing their workforce. Learn how Haitian immigrants are still bravely fighting JBS's discrimination in our latest blog post. ➡️ buff.ly/Pzt9ivX
In January, the federal government announced its new dietary guidelines, which turned the food pyramid upside down and put meat and dairy at the top.
We just filed a motion in the hopes of unsealing important documents in a case involving ag data service Agri Stats. We have a right to know how Big Ag operates, and Agri Stats's data informs decisions about wages and pricing. Read more ➡️ farmstand.org/farmstand-mo...
Racist, anti-immigrant agenda🤝Big Ag companies that exploit immigrants and refugees for profit We're standing up for Haitian meatpackers who endure discrimination at work AND uncertainty and fear about their immigration status. Read more on the blog: farmstand.org/were-standin...

We're suing Pacific Seafood for polluting Oregon's Columbia River and costing the community its health and quality of life. Industrial aquaculture has the same harms as industrial ag. Suits like ours hold the industry accountable before it grows to Big Ag's level of power. More ➡️ buff.ly/5YTD456
