Oh yeah, I guess I do have something quick for Bunny Day..
Don't tell my players. They haven't met this NPC yet

In Session 2 of Pirate Campaign, the party snuck into a Navy-controlled port to try to acquire a boat and sail out onto the open seas.
I had a lot of fun designing uniforms for the Navy personnel. One character was an overworked "police sketch artist" based on my own avatar.

When we were wrapping up, I was also idly doodling designs based on the generic enemies Oolong had thrown at us.
The big robot is a "what if", a "wouldn't it be cool if we fought this?" kinda thing. The other three are based on stock art he used for the enemy tokens.

Some of the last few things I drew when we were still running Oolong's "Nu Vaelona" campaign.
Last session had a cameo appearance from one of his older D&D NPCs.

Back before I started DMing, we ran a couple of one shots with some older characters, and I did new art for them.
The roguish young chevalier Sir Cumference, and an "undergraduate" design for the occultist, Dr. White

Get me a movie that looks like this all the time

My pièce de résistance in Session 1 was an interactive world map, representing the table where the quest giver was talking to the party and showing them all the key items.
The players could pick up and move the props in Foundry Virtual Tabletop. It was like a "playable session zero."
#Art #D&D

The first major antagonist I introduced was a kingdom that was trying to take over all sea trade in the region. Think East India Company, or the Marines from One Piece.
In Session 1, a detachment of this faction's gendarmes was out to arrest some of the player characters for desertion.

Back at the beginning of June, I started DMing a new campaign for my D&D group. It's called "Pirate Campaign"
one of the early things I did was a bunch of "key art" for locations they'd be visiting. Some of these were drawn from scratch, but a lot of them are painted-over photobashes.

Sorry that Will and I are fucking CULTURED

having just got out of seeing BACKROOMS , I am once again reminded that many derivative works of HOUSE OF LEAVES overlook the elements that are truly core to the conceit

AH, so I shouldn't have used the word "Token"

I went the extra mile with the one shot, drawing unique token art for every individual orc in the raiding party the players fought. I can't be doing that every time, but this was special!
Some of them - like Chef Boyardee and Gachimuchi - are INSIDE JOKES aimed at specific players.
#Art | #D&D #5e

Some "key art" I did for the One Shot, establishing where it took place... out on a Tolkien-style Barrow Downs, a wasteland of old graves near hobbit country, frequented by Orcish raiding parties.
The players were adventurers checking out a METEOR that had fallen there recently.

I saw a couple of my mutuals are already following you, I was like "damn, small internet!"
Oh yeah, I had to get Amabie. Our DM had Amabie as a helpful recurring NPC in this Samurai/Wuxia game he ran last summer.

What is Odette? Where would I begin... she was some sort of chimera, a beastman with pale fur, long talons and a horn, and she was also a theatre performer, a dancer bard, with that sort of "aging white dwarf starlet" personality. Then we found out she was from the moon. So I drew this.

In a later session, we followed up on a lead from the Doctor Pumpkinhead bust and infiltrated an enemy camp. Jung disguised himself as an enemy soldier, and @alchykiller.bsky.social's character, Odette, disguised herself as an old hag.

A lot of our early sessions were focused on Joseph's backstory. Specifically, his father, a larger-than-life former adventurer who cast a long shadow over the profession. We ran into people who knew him, heard crazy stories about his exploits, his manias.. too much to explain here.
#Art #OC | #D&D

Doctor Pumpkinhead was ultimately killed(?) by @sageyasha.bsky.social's Joseph, a young aristocrat who was trying to get in touch with his roots and become the new "Rocborne Ranger" class.
I illustrated the final blow.
#Art #OC | #D&D

Oolong, our DM, was throwing these fun villains at us that he had cooked up with 5E's monster sheet hybridization tools. Our first major bad guy was Doctor Pumpkinhead, an alchemist who supplied worse bad guys with diabolical serums and elixirs.
#Art #OC | #D&D

Jung was your very typical "monster found by the good guys who learns to be a hero". He was like Blade or Hellboy.
This made for a great RP dynamic with @vongulli.bsky.social's Mollie, who initially suspected he was secretly one of the bad guys she was running away from.
#Art #OC | #D&D

One of the first things we decided was that he had "sun sickness", like Vampire Hunter D. Out in the daylight, Jung was uncoordinated and uncharismatic. But in the dark, in his element, he locked in and took charge. I gave him goggles like Riddick, to protect his sensitive eyes.
#Art #OC | #D&D

The development of Jung Blood was very collaborative. I started with Captain N Simon Belmont as a base - but the other players kept pitching suggestions. Alchykiller pushed for being a Dhampir, Sageyasha suggested Oath of Vengeance, Mopboy helped NAME him, Oolong wrote his origins..
#Art #OC | #D&D

Between February and April 2026, Oolong ran 11 sessions of "Nu Vaelona", a kitchen sink fantasy campaign with horror and dieselpunk elements. All bets were off; we could take whatever we wanted from new 5E classes + origins. I made "Jung Blood", a Dhampir Oath of Vengeance Paladin.
