Finally got around to reading @markwaddell.bsky.social 's Colin Gets Promoted and Dooms the World, that I purchased several months ago. A delightful romp where it takes a little time to figure out who to root for, who's evil and whether they are the same people. Great fun!

Well, I have just finished reading a masterpiece. The Poet Empress, by Shen Tao @dragons.bsky.social, is absolutely breathtaking. And also the kind of book that makes one think: "I'll never, ever be able to write like this, but I can't wait for tomorrow morning to try anyway." Magnificent!
Wearing the Lion, by @wiswell.bsky.social, was as delightful as expected. What a powerful exploration of found families, grief and shame. And what murderously effective turns of phrases. Only problem: now I want to adopt a one-headed hydra.
Thank you @chuckwendig.bsky.social for Gentle Writing Advice. I needed to be reminded that I love writing more than I dread rejection -- and that there are ways to deal with the latter without breaking into pieces. Now, I can pick up the quill again with my mind at peace.

Late to the party as usual, but I thoroughly enjoyed @wiswell.bsky.social 's SOMEONE YOU CAN BUILD A NEST IN, which I finally received from my local library. Some of the best character designs I have ever seen. And happily, there is more Wiswell goodness waiting in my borrowing queue!
We made and froze a large tourtière, a traditional French Canadian pie combining various cubed meats, potatoes and (if you insist) onions. On the big day, we put it in the oven for 10 hours and I went to the gym. This is what it looked like when I returned.
Cory Doctorow's ENSHITTIFICATION is that rare book-based-on-an-article that actually improves on the source, thanks to abundant and exquisite research. While I'm not sure that all of the author's solutions to the "Enshittocene" problem would work out, we definitely ought to try some. #BookSky

So... This happened. I have committed a novel. UNCONQUERED MAGIC (working title) weighs in at 44 chapters, including an epilogue, as well as 23 interludes, for a slightly pudgy total of 95 000 words. #BookSky
