Did the Dougie walk today. I think he was moving a little better? I’ll see how he is Monday. Won’t be walking him Tues as we have the day off for reasons.
10mins of walking under the crispy sun. Mostly doing loops in the yard. Still slight pulse in both fronts.
So walked Dougie after his 2 days of rest. He still has a digital pulse but he did get injected right into the coffin bone area. It’s going to take time I think.
Today is the 3rd year anniversary of Dougie being part of our lives. Here are some of the first pics in his new for him stall.
Dougie is now treated. He’s on box rest for two days then we’re to hand walk for 10mins then the week after more walks on straight lines n level/firm ground n perhaps under saddle? Then ease him into trot then 4th week she see’s him again.
And of course I get at the stables in time for the vet. But the vet has pushed appt due to emergency so 12:30-1:30 now.
Dougie was much better than he was Tuesday. Still a slight digital pulse but was moving far better.
Got time at the stables. Dougie’s pulses were up today. Was told he wasn’t at his best yesterday when ridden. Used his ice wraps before I rode n took it slow. Turned out ok!
A ‘learning experience’ with Dougie. He was napping toward instructor corner n I overreacted so he burrowed in more. Had to plan a head n not be so strong. In the end we both learned something!
Dougie time was good. He’s still not perfect n a bit lumpy but that’s why he’s getting treated with arthramid in 3 weeks.
He was a little lumpier tonight. Need to work on my consistency with Dougie. Got vet tomorrow to see if he’s improved. Both myself n instructor think he will not like the hard surface. Going ok on soft tho!!
We rode indoors to hide from the crispyness. Dougie took time to get going, much like me ;)
It was hot n humid at the stables n Dougie was feeling it. As was I. He was stiff but we worked on this. Not a bad lesson even if I felt cooked!
So as some may know it’s my Birthday today. It’s a big one too as I’m officially really old (60). Squirl got me
It took me an hour n 15 to get to the stables tonight. It was thundery n wet. Dougie was in giraffe snorty mode so we spent our time learning to relax together.
Also good time at stables. Dougie was missing his friends but he has been turned out this week. No shoes till next week. Good lesson too.
Dougie was a little short in his stride again but it was a harder surface. No pulse so that’s good n was enjoying the clock circle exercises ended up doing.
