🧶Another test knit that didn’t end up sticking. The weight of the back fabric kept pulling the tunic up in the front, so I felt like it was choking me. I reworked it into this top, which I did wear for a few years before I felt too dysphoric in it. I’ve since given it away. #ShowMeYourKnits #KnitSky
🧶I finished in time for #FOFriday I’m happy with the way it turned out now. The colour blocks are much more visible in this picture because the light was very crisp today. Today was a sunglasses inside type of day. A lot of sensory overload all day. #KnitSky #ShowMeYourKnits
🧶 Adding sleeves to a test knit. I’m extremely proud of this alteration because it took this from a top with “some use” to a sweater with “consistent use over years”. It also inspired Ainur to add a sleeved option when she reworked the design last year. Details in ALT. #ShowMeYourKnits #KnitSky
🧶 #WIPWednesday I did in fact frog my WIP that was turning out too large. Fitting to #ShowMeYourKnits, I’m reworking it on smaller needles, and much happier with it so far. Not much more to go, and again just one colour still missing. Also I’ve found a way the striping is less obvious. #KntiSky
🧶Sock surgery: the yarn I originally knitted the toes of these socks from was not suitable for the amount of washing my socks need. The original toe of the bottom sock was cut off, and a new toe knitted from the live stitches of the foot. I’m glad I took and found this pic #ShowMeYourKnits #KnitSky
🧶 Many knitters have a phase where they knit everything and anything they can get their hands on. I was in that phase during the original test knit of this shawl. I was revelling in the creativity of independent designs, and had yet to learn to know what I will use. #ShowMeYourKnits #KnitSky 1/x
It’s still #WIPWednesday night, and this project has gone on hiatus until I decide whether to frog or finish. Again, I should have accounted for bamboo vs metal needles, and lower stress levels into gauge. This has turned out larger than planned. Who am I kidding, I’ll likely start over. #KnitSky
I’m squeezing in one last multiple projects design for #ShowMeYourKnits before the theme changes. It’s another of my stranded colourwork sock patterns inspired by traditional mat weaving from the Philippines, and you can see how different amounts of repeats change the focus of the design. #KnitSky
I got my ducks lined up enough to pull together another post for #ShowMeYourKnits. A few years ago I bought a book from Habi, the Philippine Textile Council, about traditional mat weaving, and it has inspired a whole line of colourwork socks. Here are three pairs of the same pattern. #KnitSky
🧶 I‘m back #ShowMeYourKnits! Last week was a bit too much for my nd self, but I‘m feeling better after a day mostly in bed yesterday. Just in time to show off one of my current summer wips. I knitted the light blue version with eyelets for the test knit. Then I wanted a cropped version. #KnitSky 1/x
🧶 It’s #FOFriday and my stranded colourwork jacket (pattern by @knitsedna.bsky.social) is finished, washed, and blocked. The last finishing touches could be covering up the steek edges and adding buttons. Since I almost never close my jackets, buttons seem too tedious to attach. #KnitSky
I’m keeping my mom’s tradition going, and started stitching on the Christmas stocking for my brother’s third child. The goal is to finish this before Christmas, but I am very slow at embroidery, and I want to enjoy this process, as it’s likely the last in a while. #CraftSky #CrossStitch #Embroidery
🧶Update: Just the front and neck edging missing on this beauty. Even though I’ve done it a few times now, there’s a resistance to cutting my knitted pieces. Am I sure this yarn doesn’t want to be anything else? It’s kind of too hot to work on this, but it’s also so close to finished. #KnitSky
🧶 #WIPWednesday I’ve been sleeve knitting on this beauty. The temperatures are supposed to climb again, let’s see if I can finish this before the next heat wave makes it unbearable to knit at. I’m enjoying knitting this so much, I haven’t even shown my other wip #KnitSky #ShowMeYourKnits
🧶Thanks for the appreciation of this project. I finished the body, and I think I will knit the sleeves before cutting the steek. I accidentally slammed a closet door into my toe this morning, causing a flare in sensitivity. Now everything is too loud, bright, intense today. #KnitSky #ShowMeYourKnits
🧶This week I‘m able to work on this Acacia Leaf Cardigan (pattern by @knitsedna.bsky.social) again. I couldn’t bear the wool in my lap in last week’s heat. Only a small amount of rounds left until I finish the body. I seem to have the patience to take this one slowly. #ShowMeYourKnits #KnitSky
🧶Remember those three days of extended socialising last week? In combination with the intense heat, I have not been able to recuperate completely from it yet, because unfortunately everyday life continues. This is the pair of socks that I knitted during those days. One sock a day. #KnitSky #FOFriday
🧶 #ShowMeYourKnits I haven’t been using blue a lot, but I‘m pretty sure I haven’t shared this whale with you yet. It’s beloved by the nibling. Been seeing a lot of intarsia in the round explanations lately. This is the pattern that I figured that out for, for myself. #KnittingForNiblings #KnitSky
🧶 My lacy socks are done! I‘m very happy with them, and that I remembered to reinforce below the heel. I had the most draining week with three days of extended socialising. The only upside was that the moderater encouraged me to knit along, which helped me regulate and finish three socks #KnitSky
🧶 This has been the busiest and hottest weekend in a long time. I‘m so tired now, but I‘ve dug out the pictures of these dark and light tops from three years ago for #ShowMeYourKnits These continue to be some of my favourite tops to wear, though it‘s way too warm for them right now. #KnitSky
🧶Here‘s that sock with a bit of lace. I‘m chugging along during my commute and trying be patient that it isn‘t growing as fast as the last sock. I have this unreasonable expectation that my sock should progress as fast as the ones I knit on vacation 🫣 Silly me. #WIPWednesday #KnitSky
🧶 I went out for brunch, and knitted in public on #WWKIP, but of course forgot to take a picture 😅 Here’s a throwback to last week when I visited the sea 🥰 My partner thought it would be more overcast and brought home a bad sunburn. Not quite as red as the yarn, but close…🫣 #ShowMeYourKnits #KnitSky
🧶 This is a fun and beautiful entry in the striped week for #ShowMeYourKnits. This reversible hat has been my one of my favourites for five winters now. The designer Mary W Martin is always experimenting with knitting. So she has lots of patterns to try out different techniques. #KnitSky
🧶Stripes for #ShowMeYourKnits and matching outfits with two niblings #KnittingForNiblings. These are from about 2.5 years ago, so only my vest still fits the original person it was intended for. Luckily the niblings still love spending time with me as much as I do with them. #KnitSky
🧶 I knit this wool blanket for a September nibling. It has gotten them through three winters. The mosaic knitting, and worsted weight yarn give it a lot of squish. The chameleon belongs to the same nibling and is called Humphrey. #ShowMeYourKnits #KnitSky Quoted post is the last blanket I knitted
🧶To cleanse my timeline of the unrealistic expectations of the last sock project I posted, these socks took almost a month to finish. Sometimes that’s just the way things go. I’m getting better at not stressing over how long projects are taking, and enjoying the process. #KnitSky
🧶One more FO for #LightItUpMAL It took exactly one month to finish this shawl. It would have been a tiny bit quicker if I hadn’t forgotten to bring extra of the light greige yarn last weekend. It was a fun experience. I will be blocking it gently just to get that edge a bit flatter. #KnitSky
🧶 I can’t believe I knitted these in less than three days, while also spending 1.5 of those with my niblings 😱 the things I can do when I can concentrate on them are amazing. I love the way these turned out. I guess they’re a FO for #LightItUpMAL #ShowMeYourKnits #KnitSky
