Text from a BBC report on the French wildfires about a Franco-American woman with children, who saw the wildfires from her house, thought, "oh, they look out of control," and nonetheless went to bed with earplugs in and missed the evacuation order. So now they are stuck in a completely evacuated zone and can no longer leave.

This reprobate went for a midnight wander and when I tried to tempt him in with snacks I attracted several other neighbourhood cats, but not this one. Who wandered in 10 minutes later demanding to know where 3rd dinner is.

Bit off topic but I'm in remembrance mode these days on these kinds of days. My Aunt always used to send me Christmas Birthday cards - hasn't found one in years so I get a Xmas card with HB written inside. It's fine but hope always springs eternal when I see it. Look what my son made me this year🥰

Backstitching is magic 🪡🧵#crossstitch

Cross stitch in a hoop showing some vaguely defined blue flowers and what might be a ladybird.

Same cross stitch in a hoop with back stitch, now you can see that are a wreath of forget-me-not with a little ladybird sitting on a leaf. The difference the backstitching makes to the understandability of the cross stitch is enormous, one could almost liken it to like having alt text on pictures!
