Tarot Deck 38! "Heavenly Bloom Tarot" by Noa Ikeda! #tarot

This is a very pretty, very shiny deck. ...but I don't think it's ultimately for me. Those who really like final fantasy type anime would likely live it.

While every card is individually pretty, and DOES technically represent the card meanings, the figures are, to me, so prominent that it often looks alike, like a blur of beautiful characters. It's the same problem I had with the art nouveau tarot, lacking the backgrounds which do so much work and can be just as expressive as the people standing in them.

Tarot Deck 37, "House of the Dragon Tarot", another Tomas Hijo creation! #tarot

I haven't actually watched House of the Dragon, but I love Tomas Hijo decks, and I like(ed) game of thrones, so twas natural I'd want this! Thanks for getting it as a gift for me, babe!

As usual, Tomas Hijo's great woodcut art is spectacular and mythic feeling, and seems a great fit for a fantasy setting like this.

As is standard in Hijo decks the suits have thematic replacements. It's hard to beat the suit of dragons!

As is also usual in Hijo decks, the minors are simple. Considering he literally carves the images on blocks of wood I can't say this is unreasonable, but it's one of the reasons I can't quite read with Hijo decks.

Tarot Deck 36! "Crooked Moon Tarot" from the Legends of Avantris Crooked Moon setting, Illustrated by Leonard Schellauf. (Remember, I give my detailed review in the alt text!) #tarot

I wasn't expecting much from this tarot deck, being a kickstarter bonus add on to an rpg supplement, but this is actually genuine quality! The cardstock is nice (edged in silver), the printing quality is great, and I really like the art! It's D&D style fantasy made spooky, but still has all the classic Ryder-Waite-Smith images that could be used for a classic reading.

Heck, even the minor Arcana are fully illustrated! I love the design to them, going without text and only numbers (and not even numbers for the aces), except for the court cards. This was an enormous problem with the actual D&D tarot because the suits were all redone, and the images were so unclear. In this deck however, you can tell a wand or a sword at a glance.

A rustic outdoor booth in the tudor style in a charming, snowy town square, lit by window panes and christmas lights. The booth is staffed by persons in various stages of liquid-filled expansion, outfitted in festive costumes, and equipped with spigots affixed to their breasts, from which they are dispensing toasty, mulled drinks into mugs. The customers who are imbibing the drinks are themselves expanding with mulled drink as well. In the background, Fenris is rolling away an immense, spherical flittermilk, demonstrating the ultimate outcome of the magical brew when it isn't drained away fast enough.

Alicia, Alex, and Tracy, walking down the street. Alicia and Tracy are commenting that for some reason, they seem to be attracting an undue amount of attention, and they don't know why. Alex seems non-plussed, making a casual remark.

Alicia, Alex and Tracy, as before, except it is revealed that, unknown to Alicia and Tracy, they are actually half-naked, and enormously pregnant, with bodies thickened by years of breeding. Their dialogue is more sexual in nature as well. Alex has, presumably, hypnotized them to momentarily be unaware of their true nature.
