Didn't get to the coast this week for @bsbibotany.bsky.social #WildFlowerHour so here's a forget me not from Threave Castle instead @n-t-s.bsky.social
Checking out the new den box- fingers crossed they settle in next year @vincentwt.bsky.social
Wild thyme and Tormentil, South Lanarkshire verge. @bsbibotany.bsky.social #wildflowerhour
Speckled Wood Butterfly in the Scottish Borders yesterday- lots of them at Elibank when I was out checking the pine marten den box.
We visited the Scottish Owl Centre today. Fab place, many owls and very informative talks and flying display, where the Burrowing owl completely stole the show from an eagle owl and Great horned owl. Also, I felt this melanistic Barn owl was quite goth.
Nice afternoon at Musselburgh Lagoons yesterday- not sure why I've not been before but will be back #ScottishBirding
So this little guy is hanging around the house today- much to the delight of the dogs.. although I have a few trees we are pretty much on the edge of a moor.
I'm not much of a gardener and have mostly encouraged the garden to be somewhat wild with lots of native plants. This old hebe though is useful- as a wren roost in winter and for pollinators when it flowers- small torts, red admirals, 4 species of bee and lots of hoverflies today!
Like this one? I have my own chariot pony and a garron 😁. I don't know why that era is so hard to get right on screen. Britannia managed it somewhat (bonkers but fabulous) but it's hard to think of any really good ones.
@ohgodwhatnow.bsky.social your segment on planning was poor. Starmer has cherry picked data and lied. Please do some research on ecological protections and Ty e biodiversity crisis and stop dismissing those concerned as nimbys.
Mull of Galloway yesterday- beautiful day, ice cream and views. Bit early season but there were razorbills, guillemots, shags and cormorants as well as the odd gannet & seal. It’s a nice drive down the coast from Ayr.
