Animals are smart. When there is the potential for thunder or there is thunder embedded in rain Butters hides. It’s rained before and she’s been fine but if there is lightning she can sense it, even though I can’t hear anything. This one she went hiding after being up on our bed.

It’s dry out there folks!!! Some of my grass that I planted is now dead and turning into a tinderbox. If you smoke, don’t be a jackass and throw your butts on the ground. Don’t burn, don’t use fireworks and don’t be stupid! Remember, most wildfires are caused by humans. Be safe!

I’ve given away several bags of my cherries to friends and some cherries to locals walking by and I’m not done picking. Unfortunately I can’t reach the high branches and oddly enough the birds aren’t coming to the tree and eating cherries…..🤔🤔🤔 I’m grateful for the bounty!

This saying rings true to those who do nothing but have to work to pay the bills. One job should be enough but even where I work, hours are always a hot topic and full time is rarely available unless you are in management. It’s all about profit at the end of the day.

I took these photos yesterday. We haven’t had much rain and we are now mid July. Everything is dying or looking really sick and tired. Many leaves on the trees are small or haven’t grown at all and the grass is brown. Another summer of drought. Perhaps not officially declared but to me it is.

Pick some more cherries! These are the ideal colour and shape. My cherries don’t get a purple more of a deep red. It’s strange the birds aren’t really coming after them. They have gone into a frenzy before and it’s hard to get good cherries that aren’t rotten or picked at by the birds.

A tale of 2 gardens. My old garden is not doing bad, even with shade from the sumacs but my new garden is struggling, despite watering efforts. If I didn’t water it would just be dirt. I’m going to have to adjust what I plant, come up with vegetables that like extreme sun and dry conditions.

Seems to be our normal now. My new grass that is growing is dying. I miss the deep lush green that July has to offer.☹️☹️☹️☹️ This was the 2023 floods so maybe not the much rain at once but everything was so green here!
