The chain is made of 72 elements and, off course, really works!
I wasn't planning to buy a new bike today. But I wasn't planning to visit the LEGO store either. Things happen. 😄 Now please don't bother me this weekend! #LEGO #LEGOIcons #NewBikeDay
For my work, I visited an apartment complex under construction. There is still a lot to be done in and around the homes, but in the basement of the complex, the double bicycle racks are already installed for future residents! 👌🏼
Time to get melancholic 🥹 After 8 years and countless times cycling with our boys to their primary school, through wind and rain, in freezing and tropical temperatures, todays schoolrun was the last one. This routine made them confident cyclists and me a very proud dad! 🥰
Rethinking fair use of public space. Three former parking spaces, previously the privilege of three car owners. Now, each spot accommodates at least ten bicycle owners. And there is even room for a picnic table.
Don't dream of an electric car society. Instead, dream of a FEWER car society!
Your periodic reminder that cities aren’t loud. Cars are loud.
XXL cargo bike setups are a game-changer for supplying shops in city centers. They are sustainable, don't block half the street, and look cool too!
As of today, the speed limit on 270 roads in Utrecht has been lowered to 30 km/h. An important first step in improving road safety, although for now, it only involves new signage and the installation of speed cameras. The necessary redesign of many roads will take place over the coming years.

When the Dafne Schippers Bridge in Utrecht opened in 2017, the area on the other side was still empty land. Today, crossing the bridge means cycling right through a brand-new, high density residential neighborhood. For its residents, a direct link to the 'old' city lies literally on their doorstep.
In case you wonder how such a neighbourhood may look like: a recently built neighbourhood, also in Utrecht, gives a good impression: -mixed high- and low density housing -lots of trees and green space -multiple playgrounds -ample space for walking and cycling
Excellent blog by @bicycledutch.bsky.social, describing and visually showing how Utrecht has changed in a relatively short time. Important takeaway for car-centric cities saying "but we're not Utrecht": Utrecht wasn't either! But then it showed (and still shows) that change is possible!
Mature trees with "kissing canopies" not only enrich city streetscapes, they are also crucial for cities in managing summer heatwaves. The cooling effect and shade they provide make the difference between livable and unlivable streets for everybody using them.
🚲 Cycling on top of a highway 🚲 When Utrecht began expanding on the west side of the city, the highway formed a huge barrier between the old and new part of the city. To connect the two parts, the highway disappeared underground and made way for an elongated park with play areas and a bike path.
Leave it to the Dutch to pedestrianize American streets! #FIFAWorldCup #NothingLikeOranje
Temperatures are well above 30°C, but people keep cycling. Evening rush hour in Utrecht is as busy as usual. It is just that everyone is dressed a little more lightly.
Cycling down the ramp of the Dafne Schippers bicycle bridge in Utrecht. Another example of how cycling infrastructure can be both fun and practical!
Dedicated bike infrastructure ✅️✅️✅️ Lush roadside with trees and colorful flowers alongside 💚💚💚
Sometimes I treat myself by cycling a lap through the largest bicycle parking facility in the world. Just for fun. Because cycling infrastructure can be both fun and practical!
Today I am cycling the Climate Classic. A bike ride thoughout the Netherlands intended to raise awareness of climate change that, ironically, has been shortened due to today's extremely high temperatures ☀️🌡️🥵 Below is a short impression of last year. #ClimateClassic #ShowYourStripes
Rush hour is getting off to a slow start today. Literally, because everyone seems to be taking it a bit easier due to the heat.
Evening sun above a infinite cycle street surrounded by trees and greenery 🤩
Waterfront development done well in the Dutch city of Nieuwegein: high density appartment buildings combined with space for cycling, walking, trees and greenery at street level. 👌🏼
