Hey it’s me, Blorko! Films, Cannes Film Festival, horror, independent cinema, Asian and South American films. Favourite films: Suspiria (2018), Memoria and Lisando Alonso’s entire filmography
Hello from Athens! I’ve just landed and there’s an all-nighter at an open-air cinema tonight with JAWS and POLTERGEIST, why even go to bed. And then yoga at sunrise, you don’t get that at the Prince Charles cinema hey
Interesting that it’s my most liked review this year. It seems that the reception on its general release is already kinder than it was in Cannes
GHOST TRAIL: a subdued but riveting spy drama in which a Syrian refugee in Europe is consumed by his quest find a figure from his past. The film skilfully weaves in the everyday trials of a refugee’s life with the more genre-centric aspects of the story.
A not so surprising addition to the list of my favourite films of the year. Although still falling short of dethroning my top film
I’m very belatedly catching up with SILO S2, I’ve just watched the first episode and there so many memorable shots but I think these are my four favourites
I have updated the list of my favourite films of the decade and I guess you could say I like Argentinian cinema! Argentina must lose at the World Cup though, I hope England avenges France for that cursed 2022 final.
I completely missed that there was an Atom Egoyan season on the Criterion Channel. While his recent output has been disappointing, his earlier work was fantastic, and these are three of the best films of the ’90s, imho, particularly The Adjuster, which is one of my favourite films of all time.
It’s mad the way Prime dumps so many films randomly and good luck finding them. I saw they have recently added South African eco-horror GAIA which I highly recommend. Atmospheric, a bit bonkers and with some fantastic practical effects
I’m at the press conference of the jury following the awards. Park Chan-wook, Demi Moore, Ruth Negga, Stellan Skarsgård, Diego Cespedes, Chloe Zhao… #Cannes2026
OMG Virginie Efira and Tao Okamoto joint best actress award for ALL OF THE SUDDEN! Well deserved #Cannes2026
The teams called back for an award, on the red carpet of the closing ceremony! #Cannes2026
Look away if you don’t want any spoilers but given who is back/has stayed in Cannes, here are my updated predictions #Cannes2026
