I may have the only cat who becomes sociable at the vet… seriously, at home you have to go through a strenuous vetting process and she will only let you touch her on very specific terms. At the vet she’s like “hold me close!” to everyone.
Playing around with a little thermal camera we got for the library. 😁 I love how Duela’s little footprints show up for a bit!
And some titles I want to get to ASAP: THE BARBECUE AT NUMBER NINE by Jennie Godfrey, PAN by Francesco Dimitri, THOSE WHO PREPARE THE WAY by Lee Young-do, and PRUDENCE MARSH IS NOT A NOBODY ANYMORE by Emily Krempholtz -- three of those are authors I discovered last year and adored! #ewgc
THE KILLING OF A CHESTNUT TREE by Oliver K Langmead first appears fluffy, as the detectives investigate the appearance of flowers and the murder of a tree, but turns out to be a deeply comforting exploration of love, queerness, and community. It's shows that cozy can be active and powerful. #ewgc
AS WE FALL THROUGH TIME by Claire North won't leave my brain. I love how they used time travel to explore everything from duty to grief to hope with such gorgeous language and characters I can't say goodbye to. And hey, they're time travelers so perhaps they're around somewhere still. 😜 #booksky
MOTHERSUCKER by Kim Bohyun: Police are stumped by a serial killer biting, stabbing, burning, and drinking the blood of random men, but leaving no clues behind. Turns out they've all harmed women. As men clog the police lines, seeking protection, the police must consider impossible solutions. #ewgc

Lots of winners for me, but this is the latest! A series of stabbed, burned, and bitten corpses are showing up and police quickly realize the connection is there all men who’ve abused women and got porker to no punishment…
An lovely (and devastating) novel of love and friendship for time travelers. One stumbles across her own corpse in a museum, another’s partner vanishes from existence. This may be connected to the end of humanity. Impossible to put down and full of lines I had to read aloud to people. #booksky
Maybe a sign I'm reading too many horror because as I'm ordering romance novels I see these covers and they feel more ominous than sweet to me. 😅 (I mean, I get, for instance, one of the widows probably got married so isn't in the club in book two, but with the sunset and lean...)

Also, Langmead and Whiteley’s City of All Seasons was one of my favorite 2025 releases, though it has a very different feel! Something splits the world into realms of summer and winter and cousins are separated on either side, neither knowing the other still lives until a tiny breach opens… #booksky
This historical fantasy mystery utterly warmed my heart. A detective and his companion investigate the murder of a tree in a forest that grows words. It’s quirky and beautifully gay with the sweetest frame story where a night watchman plagued by flowers wonders why he’s given this story. #booksky
