Found this today. My husband is Iraqi, so of course I'm going to read it with my heart in my mouth. I hope the fact that every one of my husbands (past and present) has lived in a war zone says something about the state of the world and not something about me (though perhaps it does). 😆
My Mauritian French teacher gave this to me when I was in Mauritius. It's way above my level but I'm enjoying the challenge (with dictionary to hand). 🤯
Another class in abstraction. My teacher made me ask some hard questions of myself: Is the painting atmospheric? Is there cohesiveness? Is there sufficient visual interest? Is the composition strong? Is there a sense of resolution? Is it authentic? 😅

Caroline Blackwood was an extraordinary writer who also happened to marry some famous men. But this biography is full of amusing anecdotes - for example, Caroline's mother Maureen gave the Fascist leader Sir Oswald Mosely a black eye with her handbag when he made a pass at her. 😆

Our geyser burst, we had to buy a stepladder so Omar could inspect the damage, then this kitty decided to investigate the ladder and it almost fell on her, damaging the door that caught its fall. What a morning! 😖
