A row of crocheted mushrooms sat atop a radiator. They are different shapes and sizes, and all of them have different caps in different colours. There are tall pointy ones and crooked wizardy ones and wavy edged ones and rounded ones. They all have eyes and they are all looking at you.

I’ve always loved the bit about kingons and queons , it makes a disturbing amount of sense to my brain.

A quote from Mort by Terry Pratchett. It reads "The only thing known to go faster than ordinary light is monarchy, according to the philosopher Ly Tin Wheedle. He reasoned like this: you can't have more than one king, and tradition demands that there is no gap between kings, so when a king dies the succession must therefore pass to the heir instantaneously. Presumably, he said, there must be some elementary particles -- kingons, or possibly queons -- that do this job, but of course succession sometimes fails if, in mid-flight, they strike an anti-particle, or republicon. He’s alive! My Long Leggy Lad is complete!!

After seeing @matuzo.at‘s thermal paper camera at State of the Browser I had to get my own, anyway I took it to Hospital Records 30th birthday all-dayer today and got some ridiculously cool pics

A bunch of black and white photos arranged in an irregular grid. They are printed on paper, from a thermal paper instant camera. Most of them are of a gig stage with lights shining out, often illuminating an ‘H’ shape. One of them is of the cluster of buildings at Canary Wharf taken from across the water, and one of them is of Dan (my husband) - a white guy in glasses wearing a t-shirt that says “Dancing to a Modernist Beat”.

#SotB26 update; @letorey.co.uk has broken out his new shoes

A really good point by @kitation.co.uk at #SotB26 that form validation can make forms inaccessible if it’s not thought through - by forcing a phone number field to be a valid phone number, you’re not giving people the option to say “I don’t have a phone / I can’t use a phone / please don’t call me”

A form with two fields; email address and phone number. The user has written “no phone” in the phone field; this has triggered an error because it’s not a valid phone number. The user cannot proceed.

Smokey apparently ran around the vet’s office, refused a treat, and then hid under her blanket to avoid being vaccinated but I think we have been forgiven. (Bandit was so busy eating the treat he didn’t even notice the needle)

I have a hexagon! Not bad for a test run, although it feels like the sort of project that’s going to need proper blocking.

A crocheted hexagon using the ‘brioche crochet’ technique which allows for two types of yarn to be interwoven. It looks like branches and leaves growing out from the center of the hexagon - the ‘background’ is navy blue and the branches are light bluey/green.

@bootsmcgoot.bsky.social i finished the hyperbolic lampshade! The friend it’s for absolutely loves it, which is nice, although I was kind of hoping she’d hate it so I could keep it haha
