Today, Bus Lanes are for Buses!! Thanks @transportation.seattle.gov for making Route 8 a little faster!!
The Yale slip lane is now permanently closed, with Boren handling all I-5 traffic! We had a great time meeting the SDOT crew and can't wait to see the improvements this will bring for the L8! We'll head back down later today to share some more photos after everything is fully installed.
Work is officially underway for Seattle to transform into its ultimate form! Stopped by to drop off some coffee (not pictured) and snacks for the night shift while they restripe. Join us tomorrow morning at 11 to show the day shift some love as they do concrete work! partiful.com/e/DS4Hpdp2Qn...
@seattledot.bsky.social has announced more detailed timelines for Denny Way bus lanes! The Yale slip lane closure and Boren safety improvements will happen early August! After some repaving, the new bus lanes and westbound bus stop will be installed mid-late August! www.seattle.gov/transportati...
🚨 ATTENTION RIDERS! 🚨 We're not going to let city council cut our bus service. Come to public comment this Monday to tell them we want MORE bus service not less! Details and RSVP here: luma.com/hq33yvmk
New sidewalk open on Denny Way! Glad the sidewalk sheds are gone and people can walk on wider sidewalks between Minor and Stewart.
We met with @seattledot.bsky.social Tuesday to go over the Phase 2 designs for Denny Way bus lanes and left very impressed. It was clear that the team shares our values and put in a lot of thoughtful effort to make sure that the bus lanes are a success. Thank you SDOT, can't wait for August!
Roses are red Bus lanes are too Now, so is Denny Way West of 2nd Avenue Thank you @seattledot.bsky.social for this Mother's Day gift!
Bumpy ride at John and 12th? @seattledot.bsky.social is replacing concrete on John to smooth out your ride!
🚨 BR8KING NEWS!!! 🚨 Mayor Katie Wilson will speak THIS WEDNESDAY, 1:15PM @ Denny/Westlake to unveil plans to Fix the Route 8 speed and reliability crisis. Come join us to Rally for The L8 and show support!
And now it’s closed again for cranes. Thank you traffic cop for standing in the bus lane and stopping cars from driving in it!
Phase 2 of this complete street multimodal project will also feature the Denny Way Promenade, a pedestrian path on 'Lower Denny Way' stretching from Capitol Hill to Lower Queen Anne under the viaduct. This community space will give South Lake Union an inviting front yard and space for events
Phase 2 will reroute the 8 to completely avoid conflicts with cars except a few areas still on 'lower Denny Way'. All stops in SLU will remain and bus lanes will be painted (except on Denny Way), a huge win for transit riders and without conflicts with cars, this bus will be a lot more reliable.
The Denny Viaduct will stretch from Capitol Hill to Puget Sound with interchanges at SR-99 and I-5. We've been told that only a few more lanes are needed to 'erase traffic’. This will prevent cars from idling and help our climate goals. Construction will begin this fall and last until 2045.
🚨🚨 Attention Route 8 riders! 🚨🚨 Tomorrow, Light Rail will open between Seattle and Bellevue!! To better serve Judkins Park station, Route 8 will permanently change its route to stay on 23rd Ave! The bus will stop right in front of the station and continue serving MLK way south of Massachusetts St
RapidRide is not a ‘cure’ to Speed and Reliability problems. Our RapidRides are still late and we need speed and reliability improvements systemwide.
