'Sun Dogs on Test Day', 2026, heavy paper. Testing out the instruments and set up of the measurement towers in early May. This helped establish a baseline comparison of the equipment used to measure CO2 concentration, wind speed and direction, radiation, temperature. #sciart #painting

Coneflower in full bloom. Believe it or not this is one plant! It is probably 15 years old. It drinks all the water of a downspout.

A top down view of a very large pink coneflower (whose root is echinacea). There are more than two dozen blooms of varying size and and blossom stage. Newer blooms are brighter pink while older have their distinctive cone shaped centre and pale petals. They stand out against the bright green of their leaves.

Some good news amongst all the horrors, Finn has been on an allergy diet and has gained 0.3 kg in the past week and has been happier than in the last year. He was diagnosed with pancreatitis recently, and had been doing so poorly. But he is gaining weight!!

#WIP of a leaf cutter bee hut in an alfalfa field. I just realized how many bees I am going to have to paint 😆 They were domesticated bees without stingers, so curious and sweet. Working around them really made me comfortable with bees. Gasp! I must paint a macro one! #painting

I am going to stage something with my favourite rock, a big piece of Mica scavanged in Southern Ontario.

A thick piece of mica that shines golden to bronzy brown in the sunlight. Its surface has cracked layers and fragments of the thin mineral. It is held in hand, and easily larger than my hand.

Used the last bit of my energy to put a 'wildlife friendly habitat' sign in the meadow! Plants in this pic: Canadian anemone, prairie sage, swamp milkweed, golden alexander, saspirilla, clovers, and stiff goldenrod, and more.

Space rocks and paintings on the wall at the studio. Spent the day doing glaze combo test tiles and really hyper focused into writing all the permutations 😆

A pair of paintings are encircled by eleven space rocks. Each painting is of an urban back lane at sunset, looking each east and west. Both are broken concrete and lined with power lines, the lanes filled with meltwater reflecting the sky. The space rocks are a variety of textures and colours, in three different sizes.

This sick ass slime molds crop/bralet came in the mail from www.solsticehandmade.com and I fucking love it. Also definitely got a slime molds shirt too. So many good designs to choose!! Small batch screen printing. They have bugs and ferns too hnnnggghhhh!

The wild irises grow in front of the ostritch ferns, and are blooming later than the full sun domestic orchids (which bloomed and were destroyed in a storm while I was sick 😝). I find the shady plants lag in blooming about a week.

A single rich purple wild iris bloom is stark against the verdant green leaves and ferns that grow around it.

Planting perennials like wild roses means every year you get to look forward to rose season. Sometimes the scent comes in the window, there are so many blooming. I planned our garden so there is always a bloom, from frost to frost. This might be the first year the blooms are mature enough! 🥰

We have been trying another medicine combo for kitty Finn. It has really given him his appetite back (to our detriment). He has even been breaking into the trash🙃 We are getting an ultrasound to try and find what is wrong on Friday. He has to fast 12 hours before hand and I think he might eat us.

Canadian anemone in our front meadow. From three plants 3 years ago, we now have a patch that is more than a meter squared.
