Love the way fog manages to make the familiar something novel again. #forestfriday #trees
The best mountain views are often, but not always, from the tops of other mountains.

After yesterday’s snow it seems appropriate to post this image of my dog on a snowy hike two years ago when we made first tracks on the local trails. Here she is posing for me on the edge of some rocks. #Colorado #SpringSnow #Edge #BlueSkyArtShow #DogsOfBlueSky

From Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, this old, ragged tree clings to the steep cliffs during a snowstorm. March 2019. The tree probably isn’t even alive, just wood. #Winterscape #AmericasBestIdea #BlueSkyArtShow #Wood #Colorado
Golden light filters through the low clouds, kissing the thin strand of forest at the end of the day. #Sunshine #BlueSkyArtShow #Winterscape
It was one of those days. Took the dogs for a short run because it was a bit too warm. After picking up the preschooler I ran another 5 miles pacing him as he went around a small lake. Wish I could enjoy this weather more. Been so warm and dry this winter I’m incredibly anxious about a dry summer.

Haven’t been posting much. Just sad an angry. But I’m still taking photos and playing the guitar. Snapped this crazy cloud about a month ago during that stretch of windstorms and power outages.
“Whata Bod” is not a place in Montana. I rely on the National Weather Service forecasts to inform my travel. Absolutely unacceptable for the Missoula office to post an alert accompanied by a map with AI generated place names. I’m in Colorado but I am alarmed all the same. This is unacceptable.
Nothing quite like waking up hours before dawn and hiking uphill in the dead of winter through deep snow to gain a high vantage before the day begins. This snowy predawn scene is from a few years ago, when it still snowed in the Rockies. #AlpineStart #OpenHouse #BlueHour #BlueSkyArtShow #Mountains
City skylines always look so apocalyptic from a distance, especially with a little bit of haze.
Winter sunrises high above treeline are the best. Love waking up hours before sunrise and trudging up the snow to gain a ridge. Maybe it will be an epic sunrise. Maybe just high winds. #BlueSkyArtShow #Mountains #alpinism #FavoriteThing #FavoriteThings

The camera back photo that I snapped with my iPhone to demonstrate the authenticity of these colors is even more vivid.
