there's one really good star wars tv series and it's Star Wars: Galaxy of Sounds. the pacing is great, the writing is the best it's been since 1999, and the effects are really impressive if occasionally flashy.
thank you so much for this lovely blogpost! things like this make the many many hours of gamedev genuinely worthwhile. If you're ever grinding for ¥ again, look for arbitrage in Father's Candy Shope, but the grind is really just for cards and the Master Ball for Arceus. here's a spooky plate hint:
My goal this year was to make a game that was also a toy, and the concept of controlling three characters at once made for great challenge both to work within the limits of the system and the limits of a player. Give it a try, and see if you can beat the Flegg Rush arcade challenge mode!
it's a functional gameboy color game that you can play on mobile in browser, on desktop, or using an emulator! but I *really* especially like how this emulates on mobile in itch (portrait or landscape), with the gameboy buttons built in, and the full range of colors
'tis the season! this december, I'll Be Pod for Castmas is falling in love and falling apart as we celebrate Jane Austen's 250th birthday with a series of episodes, starting with today's on Pride & Prejudice, the ur-text of capital and its affect on romantic relations! pnc.st/s/ill-be-pod...
hugo is so different from borges or melville. the humor is a claw that comes out when you do not expect it, the reference mundane and historical in a way that depicts an unobtrusive interesting world. but his titles — a thing apart! one wonders if baccano's titles are in the voice of Hugo
method man has the benefit of both intricately rhymed and referenced lyrics and an incredible flow, but just to sample a single couplet from one song (Warriors Two, Cooley High) from this year, 2025:
I am always often thinking of Dorian's line when you first reach Skyhold in dai. "No one will thank me, whatever happens. No one will thank you, either. You know that, yes?"
why does Eight Antidote go from "fun fact about hummingbirds" to "you should leave" on a dime? like all of AMCE's first act, it's an Yskandr test: but here by someone who only knows Lsel Ambassadors as charismatic mysteries full of anecdotes. when Mahit has nothing to teach him, she gets dismissed!
I love the little things in ansible stories that resonate and reflect their themes. in a desolation called peace, entirely offhand, three seagrass describes a planet thus:
Following this, today we've got an episode on THIS IS HOW YOU LOSE THE TIME WAR (2020). Compared with The Knight Before Christmas, which time travel romance did we like better? You'll have to listen to find out! (also ft. Borges' The Garden of Forking Paths) pnc.st/s/ill-be-pod...
this summer on I'll Be Pod for Castmas we've got an episode breaking down THE KNIGHT BEFORE CHRISTMAS (2019), the fourth of three Vanessa Hudgens netflix original christmas movies. A festive look at time travel romance, full of ritual and reward!
i've started saying "verisimilitude" when something has the traces of reality to it. and while it comes up often in theatre history, it's really reentered my lexicon lately from Twelve Azalea choking it out in disbelief in the judiciary's mortuary
terrible comic day means i can make and share art that comes from the heart and also is at least a little bit funny in the sad way
in small personal victories, eight years after it came out, i have beaten mario odyssey!
this feels like looking at that tarot and going "is this good?". like in what world is this anything other than a warning sign openpsychometrics.org/tests/charac...
a great classic example is Into the Woods — at the end of Act I, the cast is confident that they've "reached the right conclusions/and we got what we deserve", and can live happily ever after! action is well-rewarded with a wish well-fulfilled
assign yourself as an envoy tasked with an impossibility in the middle of a war. put yourself through multiple anomalies of time and space to pick up your situationship along the way. justify to yourself and every political entity that actually you need her for this impossible task, and so do they
feeling super great about "active tuberculosis case confirmed at local high school" and another district closing for a four-day weekend bc of 50% (!!) of staff being absent due to illness
my '24 @secretsamol.bsky.social: PRINCÉTON — WINTER VACATION mousewifegames.itch.io/princeton an all-new bluff city pokemon adventure! help your friends deal with teen tourist trainers, a tunnel project's myriad mysteries, a new cardgame taking the pier by storm, and maybe even a snowfari or two!
my solution? a .35 second transition to this particular color of blue. from any gamestate to this and back and is a small enough contrast that it doesn't seem to trigger anything, and .35 is as fast as I can go without it feeling "flash flash". hopefully for people with normal brains its forgettable
