Food & Water Watch fights for the safe food, clean water, and livable climate we all deserve.
🚨 URGENT 🚨 Chaco Canyon is a sacred cultural site that has critical protections in place to protect it from drilling, so of course Trump’s BLM is trying to reverse them – and is only allowing two weeks for people to voice their opposition! Submit a public comment now: https://fwwat.ch/4fmgVIP
A Quinnipiac poll found that 74 percent of PA voters would oppose building an AI data center in their community, compared to 16 percent that would support it. This isn’t just playing out PA – it’s everywhere! Join the movement for a nationwide data center moratorium here: https://fwwat.ch/3L0SMMO
This week, our legal team and allies filed a lawsuit challenging Oregon regulators’ decision to push through a permit that allows factory farms to continue to pollute waterways with little to no oversight. We won’t stop fighting to rein in Big Ag’s reckless pollution – in Oregon and everywhere!
Developers see farmland as the perfect place to exploit for data center use, offering exorbitant sums to buy it. And with many smaller farmers seeking to leave an industry that’s been squeezed by Big Ag, these hard-to-refuse offers harm the longevity of local farms.
Introducing Dani Replogle, one of our amazing Staff Attorneys. Fun fact: before becoming an environmental lawyer, Dani taught middle school science! Keep an eye on our channels to meet more of the incredible people fighting for safe food, clean water and a livable climate at Food & Water Watch.
Turns out massively slashing budgets at federal agencies that track and investigate foodborne illness has consequences... 💩
🎉When we organize, we win!🎉 Yesterday marked a huge step forward in our work against Big Tech. Thanks to serious grassroots pressure, @governor.ny.gov signed an EO enacting a yearlong moratorium on hyperscale AI data centers! There's so much more work to do, but right now, we're celebrating!
The movement to stop data centers had a win in NY, but Big Tech is coming at this from all angles – like pushing bills that would fast track infrastructure 😤 Fight back: https://fwwat.ch/4oMj2de https://www.timesunion.com/capitol/article/hochul-announces-data-center-moratorium-up-one-22343468.php
BREAKING: @governor.ny.gov just issued an Executive Order that includes a moratorium on new data centers 🎉 This victory will put the brakes on dozens of planned projects and is the result of a large, growing movement to stop these extractive facilities.
The Bay Area turned out for this weekend's protest against the AI industry! Enough is enough - it's time to regulate this exploitative industry and pass a moratorium on AI data centers!
The EPA just approved three more PFAS pesticides – which marks five new PFAS pesticides approved under Zeldin and Trump’s EPA. This administration’s pandering to industrial agriculture corporations makes all of us less healthy and less safe 😠
Humans aren’t the only living things being affected by the data center industry. Livestock, wild animals and entire ecosystems are at risk from these extractive facilities’ noise, water and air pollution impacts.
The scale of New Mexico's massive Project Jupiter data center has serious consequences for nearby communities, and reminds us why we fight for a national moratorium on AI data centers. Speak out: https://fwwat.ch/3L0SMMO (Photo credit: Alexa Reynaud, with aerial support by LightHawk)
HUGE thanks to @merkley.senate.gov @bynum.house.gov @booker.senate.gov and @congressmanraja.bsky.social for writing the EPA and urging the agency to treat microplastic pollution in our drinking water like the public health crisis that it is! Read more here: www.merkley.senate.gov/krishnamoort...
Farmers deserve better than a food system that favors profiteering Big Ag corporations – and we need strong federal legislation to ensure a sustainable future for people and animals. The Senate could vote on this year’s Farm BIll soon, so now is the time to take action: https://fwwat.ch/4c2Br1d
On the United States’ 250th Independence Day, we are fighting for our right to clean water, affordable energy, a livable future and a functioning democracy – all of which are being threatened by the exploitative AI data center industry, its enablers in government and Big Tech oligarchs.
Spotted by one of our staff: tfw you're asked to limit your energy usage during a record-breaking heat emergency, but polluting corporations keep getting tax breaks.
Even though data center expansion is deeply unpopular, some of our elected officials are trying to push forward several bills that would fast-track this infrastructure. Tell your Reps not to facilitate data center expansion: https://fwwat.ch/4oMj2de
⏰ URGENT ⏰ We’re fighting hard to stop data centers at the local, state and federal level. Will you power this vital work and help us meet our summer membership goal of 400 new and renewing members? For today only, your gift will make FOUR TIMES the impact: https://fwwat.ch/June26
How committed is our team to accountability for the fossil fuel industry? Our NJ team was at the State House at MIDNIGHT last night to cheer the Polluters Pay Act through the Senate Budget Committee. Next stop: floor votes by Tuesday's budget deadline!
🎉 VICTORY 🎉 East Fishkill, NY just passed a three-year data center moratorium! The Town Hall was so packed that everyone couldn’t get inside and SO many people are rising up against this extractive industry. We’re proud to have been part of this fight – and thankful to everyone who stood with us!
🏛 DC AREA 🏛 Join @greenpeaceusa.bsky.social TONIGHT at 7PM ET for a screening of GASLIT – which follows @janefonda.com on a trip through oil country – and discussion on plastics, feat. our Policy Analyst Drew Guillory, plus experts from @breakfreefromplastic.org! RSVP: www.laemmle.com/film/gaslit
Data centers already have far too much control over our bills, climate and lives. We can't allow the passage of the dishonestly-named Ratepayer Protection Act, or other laws that would fast-track data center infrastructure. Tell your Reps to oppose this set of bills: https://fwwat.ch/4oMj2de
Got weekend plans? If you’re in DC, join @greenpeaceusa.bsky.social for a screening & panel discussion of @gaslitdoc.bsky.social – which follows @janefonda.com on a trip into oil country. RSVP to learn & hear from experts, like our Policy Analyst Drew Guillory: https://www.laemmle.com/film/gaslit
NEW: @ocasio-cortez.house.gov introduced the AI Data Center Moratorium Act in the House and has nine original co-sponsors 😍 We've had some big local wins against data centers, but we need a national pause on Big Tech’s exploitation. Tell Congress to support the bill: https://fwwat.ch/3L0SMMO
From coast to coast, people are organizing to make polluters pay for the damage they cause, and we're proud to be a part of this crucial fight. We joined with community members in San Mateo, CA for a panel discussion and to take action to demand our legislators stand with communities over Big Oil.
Jim Walsh, our Policy Director, appears on this episode of @law-and-disorder.bsky.social to discuss the grassroots movement against data centers. Check it out! https://lawanddisorder.org/2026/06/law-and-disorder-june-22-2026/
Late last year, we launched an all-out, national campaign to stop data centers. Since then, opposition to these water-guzzling facilities has gotten louder – and we’ve helped stop or delay multiple projects, won local moratoriums and pushed Congress to pass federal legislation.
ICYMI: Last week, @nbcnews.com published a study that found that data center opponents “have blocked or delayed projects worth nearly $130 BILLION in 2026.” 🥳 Our people power is strong – and this fight is FAR from over! Join us by texting DATA CENTERS to 23321.
Our Jr. Digital Graphic Designer Julia is the mastermind behind the graphics for our campaign to stop data centers, but she has many talents – including speaking in support of Minneapolis’ data center moratorium at a public hearing this week!
