My favourite place on Valentia Island. This always reminds me of a portal to another world. According to local stories there was a lintel stone on top in the 19th century someone threw it into the sea.
One of my favourite places on the Ring of Kerry (or Kerry in general), Eightercua stone row... #MonumentMonday
New video coming out at 7pm. As might be guessed from the photo it is inspired by the misuse of AI to produce dubious pictures, but goes beyond this looking at Bad History in an Irish context #history #Ireland #Kerry #irishhistory youtu.be/NNC72E_m0dI
If anyone needs cheering up... the beautiful Ilaunloughan monastic site. Hidden in open site between Portmagee and Valentia in Kerry. Beautifully restored, with a rare tent shrine.
Atlantic winter sunset. The sun going down behind Bray Head on Valentia island, (Co. Kerry, Ireland), with the beautiful Skelligs in the background.
A standing stone overlooking Béal Inse - the channel which gives Valentia its name (though in Irish it is Oileán Dairbhre). If you look carefully you may spot a second standing stone which fell a few years ago
