Literary manager (rep writers, directors, and comic creators in the show business). Love the Sacramento Kings, the cinema of Sam Firstenberg, and the musical stylings or Warren Zevon. Among lots of other stuff. I also barbecue better than you. He/him.
"There was once a god who walked the Earth named Warren Oates." - Monte Hellman He would have been 98 today. And, I’m sure, still working.
Introducing my wife and her sister to a truly underrated early-90s actioner by an equally underrated director. Thanks for going after titles like this, @jlalibs.bsky.social. And commissioning killer Tony Stella artwork.
When the Humane Society calls and needs an emergency foster for a 14 year old abandoned chihuahua with a heart murmur and panic cough, you tell them to bring her over that night. Say hello to Ethyl.
Name a TV show you're positive no one remembers but you. Bonus! I confess I probably remember the @bsienk.bsky.social poster for it more than the show itself, but the show was fun.
Name a TV show you’re positive no one remembers but you. (And, yes; I know Jay remembers it).
I confess I'd be picking it up anyway, but, hot damn this @sisterhyde.bsky.social cover for Criterion's release of THE SECRET AGENT is *fantastic.*
Without stating your age, post a movie that released when you turned 18.
Take a date to Olive Garden, you get the 20 to life. Tough, but fair.
1. Knicks 2. Nets 3. Jets 4. Rangers 5. Islanders 6. Mets 7. And Jets a second time, because they're the Jets
Dug this. It's brutal, but thoughtfully constructed. Lately, I've been enjoying filmmakers telling straightforward stories in ways that are totally their own and have a very specific point of view, and boy howdy is that what film is. It's the kind '70s exploitation riff Nic Refn wants to make.
For the Knicks’ sake, I hope they can wash that Trump stank off of them, but I worry that man just cost them the whole series.
Both of these movies were released 42 years ago today. We used to be a proper country.
Pretty good mail day so far. (And just so @davidharper.bsky.social doesn't get a lot of angry emails, he didn't include the OBAA 4K as a special gift).
I'm partial to this entrepreneur who owns and runs a hotel while caring for his elderly mother.
That's kind of an unfair comparison. I mean, compare the 1970 Eastern Conference All-Stars with the random collection of bald white guys on the first Wizard Top Ten list I found. White dudes in the NBA had a hell of a lot more competition back then than white comics creators 30 years ago...
Look, guys; I know it’s Trash Tuesday. But James Glickenhaus didn’t make trash. Maybe I’ll throw on a trash film later—but this? This. Is. Absolute. CINEMA!
Ben Wheatley can turn a bad script into a decent-enough movie and a mediocre script into a thoroughly watchable one. This one was a lot of fun.
Whoooooooooo! We’re not foster fails! Tigger was adopted to his forever home today. He loved 48 HRS. so much, I never let him know there was a sequel.
Guys, it’s like a bus terminal that planes go in and out of (complimentary). And I love it well beyond the Spanish Colonial Revival architecture and Santa Barbara tile everywhere.
If you haven’t seen it, seek it out. A lost gem of 1988. Showing my wife tonight. Rest In Peace, Tracy Tormé.
