A 64 team World Cup with extra matches in South America would mean lots of extra teams and fan group flying over an ocean just because FIFA was bought by the Saudi state and Infantino had to put 3 continents in 1 tournament. And it would thus mean more of this until summer football is impossible.
The Aramco Young Player Award (yes you read that correctly), handed out by Aramco chairman and PIF governor Al-Rumayyan to Pau Cubarsi. A player who played an amazing tournament while his country was on fire and yesterday's training cancelled due to wildfire smoke. #Cubarsi
We had a minute of silence for Spanish wildfire victims this tournament. And now Cubarsi wind the best young player award with a giant oil company logo on it..
There were Champions League matches today. Just a reminder there is too much football for players, fans and - with all the travel and dirty sponsors - a liveable future.
Morten Thorsby made his World Cup debut for Norway today. Before the World Cup, he asked FIFA for a better heat policy and urged them to drop fossil fuel sponsors. www.bbc.com/sport/articl... #NORFRA
Reminders for Scotland - Brazil: - Climate change leads to more thunderstorms and intense rain. - Experts have serious issues with FIFA's heat protocol. - FIFA does not share the local Wet Bulb Globe Temperature, its decision-making is not transparent. Experts: www.bbc.com/sport/footba... #SCOBRA
Uruguay - Cabo Verde is now possibly played above the heat level at which experts say matches should be delayed. We don't know exactly, because FIFA doesn't share its Wet Bulb Globe Temperature measurements. It should. #WorldCup
And in the background, the world's biggest oil company, making these conditions ever more intense and likely.
Current Wet Bulb Globe Temperature (WBGT) at the San Francisco Bay Area stadium is 28°C. At this level, FIFA does not take any action, but FIFPRO and experts are in agreement that this match should be delayed. Source: American Industrial Hygiene Association. www.bbc.com/sport/footba... #QATSUI
We will have no debate. Thank you for your attention to this matter. 😅 #england #englandsquad #FIFAWorldCup
Ivan Toney picked for England squad because being Saudi based means he 'can handle the heat' 😳 Let's fight for a climate fit for football so extreme heat tolerance isn't a key criteria for World Cup selection! 😅 #england #englandsquad #FIFAworldcup

Football is already feeling the impacts of climate change. The next World Cup promises to be the hottest ever. Aramco is the world’s largest oil company and one of the biggest polluters globally. Many supporters believe the game should be part of the solution, not promote the problem.
🚨 We are 100 days from the start of the World Cup. Today, we’re launching an international supporters campaign calling on FIFA to drop its sponsorship deal with Aramco.
One of our volunteers in the US: "Can’t line up these CONCACAF Champions League sponsors any better/worse… Scotiabank, Saudi - Welcome to Arabia, Riyadh Air, Aramco, then PIF"
Rio Ferdinand tells the world the tournament draw is “powered by Aramco” 🛢️ There’s nothing normal about the world’s biggest oil company being pushed through football 😬
❌The internet might be down (again) - but fossilfreefootball.org lives on! 😅 🌍 On World Cup draw day, there's only place you need to go to understand the climate issues at play! 👆
