Conference souvenir for my partner acquired! Eintracht Frankfurt. They’re seemingly doing ok in the Bundesliga. Idk, I just buy football mugs as requested.
Excellent coffee break snacks at the IPC polychaete conference (The talks have been super interesting too!)
Umm maybe I’ll go see one of the oldest book copies of The Odyssey when it’s not summer holiday time ✌️
Current poster-making process I think this confirms posters just aren’t for me.
Shout out to the woman next to me at the nail salon. She was getting a “Carmela Soprano” French tip and really committed to the bit by being a colossal bitch to the staff. Dedication to her craft.
Belated Father’s Day gift for my Dad. He likes birds, he likes history, this has got to be a hit right?! Also he can’t feed them at the moment because of bird flu so hopefully it’ll fill a void… (The safety second gift is a big book on the assassin of Trotsky)
That was just a boring game of tennis by two players I don’t like. Big serve games match-ups make for a tense “who will win“ but they aren’t for me 😴😴
Thanks to a @thepalass.bsky.social grant we’ve been able to grow out outreach so much Today we’re at a school near Oldham running a mini palaeontology science fair for years 3&6. Not something we could have done without the grant money 💕
My dad told me a riddle as a kid: “Dublin, Derry, Cork or Kerry, which will fit in a bottle?” I googled it today and the AI answer is so bad it’s almost poetic. It got the answer wrong and mixed it with a similar riddle. Cork. The answer is Cork because bottles have corks. Maybe that will help.
Some ones going to have a tough time getting in to their AirBnb this weekend ✌️ (Airbnb is banned in our block, so the owners just hide the lock boxes in weird places to get around that)
Off on a science adventure! Starting with a rare treat of the Picadilly travelators actually working (well one anyway)
Excited to share that my building management has decided to heavily invest in mosquito conservation this year! Look at this lovely stagnant green water, perfect for the mosquito larvae. So thoughtful and ecologically-minded of them!
Saturday outreach day as part of #UniversallyManchester ! (T. rex is winning the poll, I’m sure Stan looming in the background has nothing to do with it)
Tbh I’m not sure why reform even bother with floating a candidate in my voting district, the Torys sure don’t. Must be a PR move: exposure and all that nonsense. Anyway, red as always but a hint of Green poking through
I will always drop things in a food bank request box but I do love when they give you a shopping list, makes it so much easier to help out effectively
My four from the Met Gala. Serena looks like someone summoned a God down to walk the stairs. (I know Beto bought it but I do whine a lot about billionaires not giving to the arts so… at least the Metropolitan museum of Art got at least $10mill for this fundraiser?)
I love a bit of sticker art Paddington telling no ideas and the Sabrina & Leeds FC collab no one knew they needed.
Just downloaded some software that I half understand The how-to guide was going ok until it just plunged off the deep end …Help me YouTubers, you’re my only hope
It’s new notebook day! Finally getting to use this cutie from @eldritchrach.bsky.social that I picked up at ThoughtBubble a few years back
Trying to get to the students sampling site. Decided to take the more direct route. Love a walk with a view
Did a little spring cleaning: down to only 843 unread emails! There’ also a bunch of txts, whatsapps, and app notations that I’m avoiding but who’s counting I save all my “answering messages” energy for work. My response time for personal messages is really just down to the whims of the gods.
