The visuals tho. Wind-whipped garments and long hair. Figures suspended in longing against raw, untamed landscapes. Heathcliff riding into a blood-red sunset. The film was all quintessential Gothic romance heightened to the point of excess - lush, dramatic, and deliberately overdone. Loved it. (4/4)
The story isn't particularly new or even compelling. In my theatre, no one was sobbing. Instead, there was laughter at the film's intentional, excessive drama. (3/?)

I just watched #WutheringHeights. Here's what I thought: First, the styling. "Wuthering Heights" is a richly re-stylized Victoriana, infusing its gothic romance with modern artistic flourishes, and an almost camp-inflected take on Victorian aesthetics. (1/?)
