Happy #InternationalPolychaeteDay, please accept my marine worm offering for these trying times

if my species ID is correct, the males are absolutely gorgeous. it's mostly tan-cream but with black racing stripes on the legs and more bold black splotches on the back. More photos here: www.inaturalist.org/observations...

Say hi to Praearcturus gigas. This Devonian arthropod from Britain's identity had been in dispute for ages, but a new study reinterpreted it as a giant scorpion. Though the fossil is fragmentary, the estimated size is about 1 meter long. This is one bug you want to ride into battle. #Art #SciArt
