Presumably been there since the 1986 modernisation. There’s a section of rail at my local NLL station labelled 1975 and is pounded many times a day by intermodal and aggregates traffic.
I’m normally a wine drinker but happed upon a pint of Brains SA. Absolutely lush. The sign outside the City Arms was equally that.
Someone brought up the TWAT cafe and I sort of remembered it. It was a long time ago after all. Anyway, the handlebar scrape on the side on the science building just off Park Place is still there when I crashed my bike into it after the chain fell off mid gear change 😂
Still glad I saw this electric locomotive in York. Built by the North British Railway company, they looked good but never worked. Initially problems with the mercury arc rectifiers and then the traction motors and flexible drive transmission. Lasted until 1980. But a unique survivor and I petted it.
In the York Tap. Think this may be the only station pub where you can enjoy a pint on the platform.

@doublearrow64 Used to love a Mk 1 RBR with those polypropylene seats. Surprisingly comfortable. Remember travelling in one from Euston in the 80s when the driver was doing about 115 mph. Great fun but the commonwealth bogies were struggling. We were all over the place! Photo: Adrian Wheeler

@garethdennis.uk thought the track looked at bit older at Brondesbury on the NLL and it appears the rails are marked BSC Workington 1975! Surprised they’re still going considering the continuous pounding they get from intermodal and aggregates traffic.
