The next @proteostasisuk.bsky.social meeting will be hosted by Ari Sadanandom: see you in Durham in 2027!
All following in the footsteps of this guy… DNA ➡️ RNA ➡️ protein #Proteostasis
Here I am, hoping that a little of Francis’ magic might rub off on me….
Can’t believe it’s been only two days since the @proteostasisuk.bsky.social 2026 meeting kicked off at @crick.ac.uk The last 48 h have been packed with excellent science- from protein synthesis to degradation, with lots of superb #ECR talks. Big thanks to the organisers 👏
Super proud of our @rothamsted.ac.uk Director, Martin Broadley receiving the Rank Prize for Nutrition, together with David Salt from U. Nottingham this evening
The scent is heavenly, and strongly associated with happy memories for me.
Walking home and quietly drinking in this beautiful evening. What the photo doesn’t convey is the gently heady sweet smell of lime trees which have just come into blossom 😌
After a wonderful four day, @giglionelab.bsky.social wraps up #proteintermini2026 Grazie, Carmela for a fantastic meeting and we look forward to Heidelberg in 2028!
Well, the conference dinner is absolutely hellish #proteintermini2026
Have you ever seen a poster session like this? Simply beautiful. #Proteintermini2026
As predicted, the food at #Proteintermini2026 is delicioso! Trying hard to resist these ricotta-filled pastries with candied orange
And we’re off! @giglionelab.bsky.social introduces FEBS Workshop #Proteintermini2026 Looking forward to four days of great science
#Proteintermini2026 is about to begin! This beautiful room in the heart of Palermo will be our home for the next four days 🤩
Lovely day for a viva! Congratulations to Lisa Clark on a successful thesis defence and good to catch up with Ari Sadanandom and Keith Lindsay
Jet lag hasn’t kicked in yet so did a bit of baking to celebrate a paper accepted while I was travelling last week. Embarrassed to have no caster sugar in the store cupboard but had the ingredients for some lemon Viennese biscuits and carrot & walnut 🧁. Not my best work but hopefully tasty!
It was a huge pleasure to attend the UK-ASEAN Symposium on #PrecisionBreeding in Hanoi this week, to represent @rothamsted.bsky.social latest work on gene edited crops. Great to meet lots of new people and hear about their research- looking forward to some fruitful new interactions.
Enjoying hearing from Margarita Naming of the Sarawak Biodiversity Centre how new technologies such as #PrecisionBreeding can be deployed whilst still protecting Malaysia’s biodiversity
A little late for #InternationalWomensDay but nevertheless delighted to meet lots of fantastic researchers and policymakers at the UK-Malaysia #PrecisionBreeding Forum
Delighted to be in Kuala Lumpur for the UK-Malaysia #PrecisionBreeding forum.
In Birmingham for a BBSRC workshop. Slightly menacing door signage in the hotel but wonderful conversation at dinner.
If you're interested in cross-kingdom #proteostasis and like the idea of a conference in a beautiful Sicilian palace with some excellent science, registration is now open for proteintermini.org/meeting/
Lemon curd cupcakes (and the last rose from my garden this year) for this morning's bake sale. All in aid of suicide prevention charity theolliefoundation.org a very worthwhile cause.
A Fairer Feast- How can technological breakthroughs work for everyone? Looking forward to this ARIA event at Venture Café London next week to celebrate #WorldFoodDay. venturecafelondon.org
Had my head in proteomics data spreadsheets all day but pleased to have whipped up this offering tonight ☺️🍰
It's been far too long since my last baking post, so I wanted to announce a recent acquisition: a cake dome which I am launching with a grown up but still childish slab of cake. Dark chocolate icing with sprinkles tasted better than it looks!
