Been listening to the Frieren Season 2 OST this morning... it's very chill compared to the first season OST (which is really wonderful) but that meandering quality to it makes sense since season 2 did involve a lot more wandering around :) Frieren has the best OSTs.
One problem with having just OK audio stuff for years is you never realize how much BETTER music sounds through a GOOD Digital Audio Converter (DAC). The goddamn Yamaha A-S801's built-in ESS Saber chipset sounds BETTER than my Schiit Modi 5! Built-in stuff NEVER sounds better, right? -_-
Better view of my Near-field setup: With an optical connection that JVC player sounds good thru the A-S801. I have two tape decks, an old Technics RS-BX828 is from the early 90s (stellar deck) and the OLDER Pioneer CT-F2121 from the 1970's for that REAL LoFi sound :) (equipment list in alt text)
Yeah, most of the Metrics use the quartz hybrid chronometer movements by Seiko, but this is a really pleasant and nice manual wind Stellita movement (with a customized bridge plate). Sarah got a Metric Light (few Microbrands make sizes she likes) and I got this one so we'd match. Silly, i know.
Anyways, I'm sitting here listening to the Celeste soundtrack as i try to get some drawing practice in and get drawing to feel more natural. It's taking a little time here, but i'm getting there as i pleasantly listen to music and try to draw old lady Piroko...
But, well, imagine me being hyper-focused and obsessing about things wrong with me. Some benefits... after adjusting the tracking force to 2.0 grams and verifying adjustments, the Celeste vinyl box set sounds really, really, really good so who cares. :)
Earlier this year I realized i had lost some hearing in my left ear - not much, i can hear just fine, but i was alarmed when i realized i could hear a mechanical wristwatch ticking with my right ear... but not my LEFT ear. I lost the hearing of some frequencies in my left ear. This spooked me.
What's kinda going on here is The Blackout from Blade Runner 2022 but without any of the cyberpunk cool factor. This push to digitizing everything and destroying the originals to take it out of our control is just a different. In this future, this age will have no memories, no images, just remixes.

When you fiddle around with actual LOFI and want to process it with the highest fidelity... it is like an allegory for how Largo processes Piro's emotional ramblings...
Funny thing... i was in 3rd grade back in 1976 when i marched in a parade back in Salem, Ohio on the Bicentennial on July 4th that year... and here I am 50 years later marching in the 250th year country's anniversary July 4th Parade with my Eagle Scout son.
A big step here is to draw something every night, even when working 13.4 hr days. Yeah, quick new sketch, def has feels in it. I simply wont waste my time doing dead drawings, i just can't.
I guess I was able to get some vibe going here. That's good. Maybe there is hope for me yet.
I have thoroughly reworked my work area over the past few weeks as my of my art avoidance neurosis and it's in much better shape now than it was. Sounds better, too. Cleaned up a lot of cable mess.
One thing that really happened this time was I stopped drawing. I've been struggling to actually get it going again, but maybe with things going a not cancer direction now I can stop being so bottled up...
Settling to take it easy a few hrs as I sit here waiting for Sarah's couple of Sarah's procedure today. Hopefully, I will get the biopsy material they need to see where her cancer is at. Nerve wracking, but we're on this.
